Rolling along

into walls, nicking corners, trim, baseboards.  Chocolate fingerprints smearing over flat white paint. Sounds similar to a skating rink.  Had to cancel all dental appointments, and a month behind on summer chores.  Managed to renew driver license with a walker and husband.  Cannot sleep, gained weight, very crabby.  Will an injection remedy this when nothing else is touching the problem?  It is not the joint.  You know how I feel about summer, one month already wasted.

Stitching has not been frustrating, very few errors in this section worth a mention.  The vase pattern was not followed as charted in color or count, just to rebel a little.  My biggest problem has been the thread.  Remove a few stitches and it shreds.  Wrong linen hole?  Try going back in to move over and it shreds.  With my crabassiness and overall nasty mood, I considered more than once to put her aside, just in case the snark visits.  Snarks pull rank over crabs.  Can't trust them.

The area above the lawn is completed, finishing the house next.

I made myself a boxed cake for b-day and wanted the whipped cream icing in the freezer.  My wheels have me sitting well below counter height.  Using one beater and trying to blend after thawing was a mess.  Hard to do from a low seat and I lost my grip on the container.  Most went into my hair and onto clothing but the window and wall did not escape the flying container.  What was left was yuck.

Then we discover the pepper plants and others loaded with aphids which will certainly be attacking all my flowers.  And I can't help with spray, dip, wipe.  Shouting obscenities at the little bastards is futile.

As I sit on the single seat swing we had built for mom, and use the handle that helped her off and held her cane, a brief slap of reality stung.  Today, turning 72, I need that handle and cane.

Hope your week has been peaceful.

Marly, it is so hard when your body gives you fits. The sampler is so pretty! I hope your birthday was enjoyable despite the cake incident. Go get a bakery cake and eat the whole thing. Happy Birthday!!! Jen

Happy Birthday, Marly! I’m glad you’re enjoying your sampler, despite the thread issue. Threads just aren’t like they used to be. But, then again, nothing is! Life at your house sounds a lot like it is here. I have my own knee issue and there’s things to do and no time for issues! It does tend to make one crabby! Have some cake and enjoy every bite! Happy Birthday and so sorry that container got the best of you. Go to the grocery store and buy one already made. And yes, when we were younger, the things we saw our older relatives going through are now things we are going through. The years have gone by in a flash. You still have two more months of summer, I hope you're able to salvage and enjoy some of it.

A belated Happy Birthday, Marly. So sorry about the stress in your life.
I wish I could be 72 again. Enjoy......time flies.
I've had problem with floss "shredding". Make me angry !
Summer is NOT my favorite, but hope yours will be enjoyable.

I'm sorry so many irritations on various things are cropping up. Bummer about the icing, stinks when that happens, especially when you are making your own birthday cake.
As much as I don't like winter, I'm ready for this summer to be done. It's been SO dry with not much rain to speak of since the first part of May. It's too dry to weed properly by pulling out by the roots.
I hope you had a good birthday, in spite of all that's gone wrong.

Happy belated Birthday. I met 72 in January and it shocked me. I love looking for you every morning. Your handwork is gorgeous. May this day be filled with cooperating threads.

The aphids are godawful this year. Daughter works at a very large pepper farm and mail order company and the aphids started extra early this year. Interestingly, the boxes of ladybugs they released in the greenhouses were less motivated to eat them this year. Probably a mutant version is emerging, much like the mutated 'super fleas' that have been taking over the last few year.

Marly darling .... the hand rail and cane - are not defining your aging, but a disability that will ebb as you heal... You will also look back later and marvel at what you were able to accomplish at 72. I echo others - go out and buy the most sumptuous birthday cake that you can find (highly ornamented)and thumb your nose at that mishap of
spraying frosting. The sampler will be beautiful and a plane flying over will never notice what your eagle eye will not tolerate... Just
love yourself as we love you and face Summer with the hope that things
will work out and take advantage of whatever will make that happen, even if it is a "shot"..... Praying you through.

Happiest of (Belated) Birthday Wishes my friend.... Sorry it was less-than celebratory. I just hate it when life gets in the way of living. The swing "lift"/cane holder with the beautiful flowers in the background are beautiful despite the bitter irony they evoke. As HH said, they do not define you. I do pray, however, that you get some relief to allow you to salvage what is left of your precious season. Believe it or not, it is too hot and humid, and the air to tainted with smoke issues, to be outdoors here. It should mean that things are getting accomplished indoors but, like the frigid winter months, the time is fruitless. Sending healing thoughts and energy your way ~Robin~

I just read online that sprinkling hot pepper flakes on plants might get rid of insects. it's worth a try and won't hurt the plant. It's really hard to get rid of aphids, nasty little buggers.

Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday, Marly! Where are these years going? I'm just four years behind you and can definitely relate to our bodies letting us down as we age. Ugh!!!

Glad you are enjoying the sampler stitching--it really is looking wonderful. I hope things look up for you soon and you can enjoy some summer--so sad that it is such a short season up north here. Especially with the cool month we've had so far. Hoping your "new year" is kinder to you, my friend ♥

I had a lot of shredding on my most recent stitch, and I'm not sure why. I changed from 28 to 24 needles, and that helped some, but it still did it. Some on Facebook said to each my threads. I've never had to do that before.
