Sew disappointed

A few minor changes in the borders because I repeat rather than review.  Each had a slight change in repetition that I failed to follow and the result .... was very good.

This is about 3.2" x 6" and Maud is very close to that.  No trim, no poms, Maud will also be a small drum.  I think a bowl filled with a mix of finishes would be a nice change from all pillows.

Unfortunately, when repairing clothing for Carole, my very old metal Kenmore machine crapped out.  There are no repair shops any longer so YouTube will hopefully offer some help.  My mom always had her old Singer to a shop, which came back worse.  Really soured me to machine repairs.  A new machine?  School taxes are due, my doubled trash pickup bill starts this month, my power bill is $50 more each month.  Not a good time.  I was very anxious to sew this and enjoy a final finish for a change so quite disappointed.

Slowly coming out of my fog.  Have not been checking blogs and emails for a while, the new laptop hasn't been set up either.  I've lost friends before, and she and I were not close for years, but I knew her well from our working together for the same doctors.  I can't find the right words to describe her.  I know that leaving her family and treasured home was destroying her more than her pain, and that weighed more heavily than grief if it makes sense.  Crying with no tears for too long had caused such discomfort with my eyes, there was no relief.  Better now, still troubling.  Makes no sense why that would cause more difficulty.

CT scan Tuesday to check my lung spots, not helping my psyche!

Hope you have a nice weekend, that one that signals summer's end.  We may get a few warm days soon, but having socks and fleece on for two weeks in evenings tells the tale.

Be safe, be well.

Pretty red sampler, Marly! Hope you are able to figure out the fix for your machine. We are supposed to return to summer temps on Sunday or Monday. I will try to push them in your direction. Have a relaxing weekend!

Hello Marly: So sorry about your machine, they have a life span so it seems, my metal singer went byby last spring.
This is a pretty design, I like the all one color.
I hope your scan gives you good news.
It will be in the 90s today and the weekend, yahoo, I love the hot weather.

Hugs
Catherine

So sorry you cannot "carry on" with the sewing machine and get that lovely project completed.
Let us hope that relief from a good report on the scan will give renewed perspective. Soon your area trees will be color-coated with Autumn wonder and holiday prospects...enjoy it....

Such a pretty little finish, Marly! Glad the border worked out so well... I'm like you, I repeat and repeat :)

I thought my sewing machine had died a few years back and it turns out all it needed was to be oiled which my husband took care of for me. I hope yours can be revived somehow. Those new machines look so complicated to me. I'm still using the one I got for my college graduation in 1977!

It's actually warming up next week, thank goodness. These last few mornings have been frigid and the house just isn't warming up during the day. Hope all is well with your scan on Tuesday ♥

Your little red sampler looks very good-- didn't stitch for a long time due to my fingers.
Hope your scan will give a good result. And I know for sure you or Mark will make your sewing machine alive again.
Take care and have a peaceful weekend, Truus from Holland

The sampler is so sweet, sorry about your machine. Sewing machine shops have disappeared, Luckily i had my 1976 Kenmore serviced a few years ago ( the shop gone now)so it will last . Be well

The sampler looks wonderful. I treasure my Featherweights (old Singer sewing machines - do not do fancy stitches - just wonderful straight stitches and I have so many attachments for them (22 in all - yes I collect them). I have one of the first, the last, free arm, English, etc.)

But, if I need more of a machine, I love my Elna or Viking machines - they are solid, hard working machines. I am a home ec. graduate and did drapery and slipcovers for a while with a friend.

Hope you are doing better. I'm wearing a leg brace and taking meds to help with pain in my knee following knee replacement 4/18/22.....knee fine just extreme pain.

Best of luck with that scan. Please do keep us posted. Love the little red BBD....and a drum finish will be perfect. It is to get to 96º tomorrow....unheard of for north of Nod (i.e., the lake). I hope to get an early start for back to Nod tomorrow as the a/c in my vehicle doesn't really work well and my overly large and overly fluffy Rajah tends to overheat and hyperventilate. Later in the week, our highs are to be in the 60's...go figure. ~Robin~
