for directing me to https://string-or-nothing.com/ and her post about wax.
I bought several Thread Heaven before they were gone and have used that at times. I love the shapes and colors of some fancy waxers, never used since I prefer to display. I like the bar that she showed because with my arthritis, it appears easier to hold while drawing a thread across. A flosstuber mentioned sliding floss across a damp sponge which works well for her.
The sausage, spinach, tortellini soup was excellent. I mixed water/cornstarch (ran out of instant potato) and added to thicken but not much. Enough for another meal and the extra will be heading to Carole's, but that depends on the time frame. The longer it is in my fridge, the smaller it gets.
What's next?
Completely out of character for my projects.....
Planning to stitch only the pumpkin man on 40 count Murky (which is quite thick and stiff!). I have no darker gray linen, very few 40 pieces, and don't want to play around with dye.
Halloween is gone, and now I choose to stitch this. And the giant bag of Reese cups larger than my wastecan is gone also. Not one kid knocked on my door. I finished that bag in record time. Good thing I don't like the taste of alcohol beverages because I have no control.
Hypnosis ×3 is how I quit smoking packs a day 25 years ago. No control, not even to just cut back. Thank God it worked.
Enjoy your day .... the weeks are passing quickly.

I've never bought the fancy waxers. Like you, I'd be thinking "too pretty to use". I've saved that soup recipe, sounds yummmy and perfect for a cold fall night. Bonus points - not a lot of time to stand and chop onion/celery/carrots like I do for nearly every soup I do make.
We had zero trick or treaters too, same as the last 20 years since we moved 2 miles out of town. Yeah...I don't buy candy for that any more either. PB cups - I can only buy them in a single-serve pack, as I can have a whole bag gone in short order.
Thanks for the soup recipe from a previous post. Also, thank you for the link that Amanda provided. I have a couple of the fancy waxers (they were gifts), but I am going to try waxing my floss on my current project. Have a good Friday, Marly.
That pumpkin man will be a fun piece to stitch, Marly! Love the vintagey look of him. Never tried any wax--I always worried that it might do something to the threads, but maybe I'll consider it again. Interesting about the hypnosis. My brother-in-law tried that for his smoking years ago and it worked for only a short while. Good for you for giving it up permanently! Think of all the money you've saved over the years for more charts, linen, and threads :)
I can't bring myself to use the "pretty" waxers either...unless I have somehow managed to break them...which I've done. I know I mentioned Thread Magic, but I forgot that I also picked up a little tin of "Beeswax Bliss" when I was at Country Sampler that I absolutely love. It's in a little tin that you pop the block out of (so it travels well) and you can use 1 side for dark and 1 for light....and it's 100% beeswax. Probably more costly than just buying blocks of beeswax but I like the tin keeping it somewhat tidier. Love the little pumpkin fella and he will look amazing on Murky!! I love Murky. ~Robin~
