Another border issue

 Love the look.
That's about it.  I struggle with stitching them!

I considered removing the portion started and finding something more simple, but The Hunter which is the other sampler in the Two by Julia book, is the same size.

I used the same piece of Ale for both, and decided to continue the charted border for size match.

But I dislike working on borders that have spaced stitches of different colors.

Another afternoon trying to clean Carole's room.  She is sentimental, has way too many tchotchkes, decades of cards kept in boxes, clothing she can't wear but won't get rid off.  Ordinary baskets taking up half of a closet because there is no where to display them, ten boxes of vacation souvenirs that haven't been opened in decades, and so much more.  There comes a time when you need to keep a few, and release the rest. But she won't.  Can you tell how frustrating this is?

And how do you deal with a Great Dane that has failed training classes twice, completely destroyed (ate) the sofa, recliner, any items not securely contained, and does zoomies that can break an adult's legs if in the way?  Crating is required but after awhile, they let her out, and take offense when I tell them to get her away from me.

Hope your week starts with sunshine.

Thanks for visiting.

I know I should go through my clothes and boxes of stuff not opened since ??? Do I? No, I'd rather play with fabric or threads.

I suspect the dog's failing training classes is due to the humans' failing the classes, not the dog. I suppose if they let the dog out, dropping whatever you're working on right as it is, and going home without a word is a no-go to you? Last thing you need is to have the dog knock you down and get injured.

The border is pretty, but I do understand the woes of isolated spots of colors. It will be so worth it to persevere though. And probably less frustrating than trying to talk Carole into getting rid of stuff.

Can you take one box of mementos at a time home with you to "sort and organize" only never bring them back?

What lovely stitcheries!!!
I have too much stuff and I know it but do very little about it. Not that I am planning on going anywhere soon, but I will be leaving my boys a nightmare.
Poor dog. As Gail said, it is the humans failing the class. That is one reason so many dogs end up at shelters. Just sad.

I'm definitely in the Camp Carole regarding "stuff." I know I need to do some major purging but I seem to prefer doing anything else but what I should. It's overwhelming...and I know I should tackle little bits at a time, but see prior point. The dog thing would push all my wrong buttons - and I have a LOT of "wrong" buttons. Julia is absolutely gorgeous. I get the border thing, but it is too beautiful to skimp. Hope Monday is being good to you. ~Robin~

Just my opinion, the dog should be kept in crate while you are in Carole's home. You are there to help, not get hurt.
Your "Julia" is going to be gorgeous when finished. Take your time on the border.
I have been taking a lot of things to a consignment shop. Not much left in the way of
decor.
Looking forward to warmer weather next week. 60s close to 70s are a good thing.

Beautiful stitching Marly. I love the border, but I understand your frustrations with it. Our neighbors across the street have a Great Dane - that dog is more like a pony!!

The border is looking good, Marly. The dog should be crated while you are there. You shouldn't have to worry about being plowed down by the dog.

beautiful stitching, and I hate borders too....'just sayin'.
yep, great danes are goofy and loveable, but their size makes them troublesome...they should keep him in a closed room while you are there.

Borders can be so frustrating, Marly, but I know you'll end up with a wonderful sampler when done.

I am terrified of large dogs for the exact reason you mention--they could easily knock a shorty like me right over or even break a bone. After all you've done for Carole, I think the dog should definitely be crated when you are visiting!
