When will I learn

to PAY ATTENTION and fully read a chart?  How many times have I failed to do this?

I wanted to mimic the original but couldn't understand how the teal faded to tan (cover photos).  The small colored diagram of the sampler inside the booklet matched that same color layout.  The thread legend lists the large alphabet symbol X as tan, not teal!  I glanced instead of reading fully and assumed the X was teal because of the photo.

Studying/reviewing the symbols and their placement on the chart would have prevented this error.  My habit of referring to and too often following chart photos rather than the graph, has not been corrected.  Will it ever be?

I stitched the large alpha in teal, completely my fault.  Do I start over to satisfy my preference of the softer tan?  Put it aside because my patience and temper has been getting the best of me lately?  Accept the teal and continue with softer colors elsewhere?

My big girl panties are stretched from being pulled up too often, and maybe it's time to get a larger size.  Teal it is.

Enjoy your day, be safe.

Sometimes the color hart can be different than what the called for floss is too. I have found that the case with a few projects now. Love this sampler. Janice

I like the teal you have started with, Marly. Chloe is a pretty gal.

I've seen color (and stitch) differences too. If you buy a pattern due to the photo, wouldn't you want your results to be close to that? I understand some color changes based on the linen used, going from teal to tan seems like a big deviation from the photo that got you to buy it. Although...

Looking at the pattern photo, I see the original sampler is below, the re-stitched version above. I prefer the teal. To me, going with tan as the original seems to be would be way too blah. And we don't have the original to see if those large tan letters are actually faded teal or other bolder color.

Teal. there is an unspoken reason you stitched it that way, and for whatever reason, I love it.

Marly: This is an amazing design, the color threads are beautiful, I have had problems in the past with color and symbols.
I have big girl panties that are stretched way out of shape, I guess that is what happens so often in my world.
You always put a smile on my face.

That would stretch my big girl panties too. I have had way too many instances where the model photo doesn't look anything like the charted colors....but this one is just plain odd. It definitely looks teal in that photo. Maybe the model stitcher made a very large error and they just went with it. Glad you've settled on a decision and I'm sure it will be perfect....yours looks much softer than the cover model photo and I like it. ~Robin~
