One is the sneaky trap of subscription. The majority of products I consider ordering cannot be a one time purchase. Give them your card and they automatically ship (or fail to) every month with the promise of "cancel anytime". Most always, a drawn out hassle to stop them taking months. So I don't order. I feel the company must not have confidence about their product, and fears the consumer would not purchase again. Unless requested by the buyer who wants the monthly shipment, companies should offer a one time purchase for those wanting to test the item before committing.
One is enough for today, no? Move on to flowers!
The floral arch is what I love about this design, and it's a beaut. See the bud at the far right? It calls for dmc 500 leaves and sepal while all others are 730 (I'm using GAST Dried Thyme which is very close but less yellow). Either make me gag when next to 500. Should I continue with the GAST or choose a different green? I kept the softer 611 for the vine, no need to change.
The huge birds on the willow and top motifs will probably not be stitched. We'll see. They may be too distracting.
As July's end nears, I become crabbier with each passing day.
Have a good one!

I agree 110% about the subscription thing. If the product is good, I'll be back...so why make me try and then try to cancel?? I dunno what to say about the color dilemma. Although it's just a photo, what you have stitched looks beautiful to me. Not sure what's gagging you?? Yeah...end of July. I'm stuck in spring. ~Robin~
Love the colors of the flowers and the big birds are also a no no for me.
I only order with company's I already know or heard from other people that they are good in service and I don't like sending me every time stuff I didn't order and I have to pay for.
Time is flying to quick and I don't like it.
Take care, Truus from Holland
I 100% agree with you. I never order if you have to subscribe because I am so afraid I will forget to cancel. I would not stitch the motifs on top of the house either, but might do the birds in a different color. I have this pattern so that is what I was thinking myself. Janice
I'm with you on the subscriptions and free trials. If it really is a free trial, they don't need CC info, they can get that if I want to continue. I bet they'd loose big money if they did that though. Worst is when they make it difficult to cancel if/when you decide to stop.
I wonder if the color change on the bud leaves was to give the impression of it sticking out into sunshine? So it's not so "flat"? Also...what's bothering you must only be visible in real life, as I'm not seeing a problem - too many variables happen between what you see and what I see.
The finished project would be fine leaving out the moth(?) and beetle/bee(?) at the top. Though I'd consider replacing the big birds with some smaller ones or little motifs to fill the space a bit. Maybe.
Your colors are beautiful. Stitch with what makes you happy.
Sorry, I`m no help as far as color advisement. Whatever you do is always fabulous so go with your gut - it serves you well! Hope you have a good peaceful weekend!
The free/subscription hook should be avoided.. not exactly user-friendly. Such sellers don't
usually perform or last. The color changes are not distracting, but the birds are...quite out of proportion. Smaller birds or another motif... Anything you labor over, Marly, usually evolves into something wonderful..... Go placidly.....
Those big birds are just wonky enough to appeal to me! I have not been stitching much lately...I need to find my stitching mojo.....
