Framed!

Hi folks.  First off, charts are gone.  I'm sorry Unknown, you didn't leave an email for me to contact you so it went to the next request.

Since I adore this finish (quite different from the chart), I decided to frame. A 4x6 was perfect, I painted to match the roof.  Displays that change locations without effort, perfect.

A second project was started, this time dmc 221 on 46 count I dyed, hopefully finished the same and kept with Robards.  Chart was a gift, Stacy Nash Little Redwork Pinkeep, and once again stitching only the back/bottom portion.

A special day tomorrow.  My hard working, started own business from nothing neighbor, is throwing a huge party at our township park to celebrate ....

he is now an American citizen!

He is so proud and excited and we are thrilled for him.

Lots of good food planned (except for the baby lamb), and I planned to bring sweet lemon breads but .... how to serve?  Sliced is difficult to take without touching other pieces, paddle tongs are too large, small would break it apart, not wrapping individually.  Maybe attempting a cake pan instead of loaf, with spatula?  Will it be fully baked in the center, or dried out edges? Hopefully it will distract me from Carole's house issues.

Three females gave birth yesterday, thirteen kittens added.  No shelter room, they doubled the spay cost, and the most upsetting part is not being able to be in her house.  Males must have sprayed their new territory (basement) and it is choking us, but not them. I told them the ammonia has destroyed their sense of smell, we can't spend more than a few minutes inside. I spent a small fortune for products, uv lights, nothing worked.  Nothing.  I make calls as does Tracy, no place to go.  Even if they leave, how do they kill that stench?  Ollie has sprayed a few shrubs here and it hits me from 20 feet away but I have an outdoor product that kills the scent.  We've waited over a month for appointments at the clinic which stretch into November, 60 day gestation means more kittens by then.  Going to a vet, not the clinic, would be close to four times the cost EACH.  Mark is so disgusted he would like to have them put down (several have died), which sent Tracy into tears and a big NO, but she does not have the money for all these surgeries and we can't and won't spend thousands.  We've spent a ridiculous amount already to help with litter and food, surgeries, cages, products, only because of the stress on Carole.  I don't care how much you love animals, it is irresponsible, which is the norm for them.  I will one day explain the household dynamics.

Enjoy the weekend.
Summer is over.
I am crabass, hear me roar.

Your finished piece is just stunning! Framing it was a perfect finish for it. Congrats to your neighbor! Someone who did it the 'right' way is definitely worth celebrating. Hmmm on the lemon bread... Maybe mini loaves so the small tongs would work? Or mini cupcakes? Both more work, but?? I don't even know what to say about the cats. I really can't even wrap my head around that situation. Have you thought of just going public? Make a plea in the newspaper or call a local tv station? Of course you run the risk of people with nefarious purposes trying to claim them, but wow...desperate times call for desperate measures??? I am so very sorry. My heart hurts for all - cats and people alike - involved. 😿 ~Robin~

I'm so sorry. What a distressing situation.

I like Cranky Crow`s idea of cupcakes or small loaves if the recipe allows. The cat situation is insane, there is no winning solution. It would be very difficult to do but you may have to step back and let the occupants of the house deal with it. Tracy lets her emotions overrule good judgement, you were already guilt ridden earlier this summer when you gave your opinion regarding keeping the kitten. It seems cruel to put them down but it`s worse to watch them multiply and suffer, and you`re footing the bill for food and litter? Again Cranky Crow makes a good suggestion about going public, that might be the only way they can be saved. My stepmom had dementia, she allowed her two cats to give birth several times and wound up with 14 cats. She was mistakenly feeding them birdseed instead of the cat food, several had eye infections, some died, it was the dead of winter and their water would freeze, poor things were suffering. Family eventually stepped in and "took care" of some of them, some found new homes, but despite her anger we could not stand back any longer and watch what was happening. She got over it eventually but it was an ordeal for all of us. I`m sorry you are finding yourself in this situation, you are the most caring compassionate cat lover I know of. Just a thought, is there an agency to call (anonymously) to report unsanitary living conditions in a home? Maybe the cats would be removed from the home and brought to a shelter on an emergency basis? Whatever happens do not take on any guilt, you and Mark have gone above and beyond. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Marly: Love the design and the frame is perfect, nice start on the next design.
So sorry about the cat problems, is there a way to get her to understand that having so many cats is not healthy? just curious, you are a blessing to her for being so kind and helping with the food and other needed items, you are an angel.
If you report it to any agency they will send out family services and maybe put Carole in a care center, I hope this does not happen to her.

Wonderful finish Marly and I love your latest start (Stacy Nash). Sorry the cat problem seems to escalate...there's gotta be a solution. Congratulations to your neighbor!!!

I got no words on the cat situation. Well, I do, but will not put that here as it's lots of foul language. I hope things don't get so bad that Carole (and what about the kids?) has to be removed from her home because someone calls in an elder abuse complaint. Sad to say, taking Carole & the kids out would probably happen faster than taking out all those cats. At the very least, the intact males should be removed/confined. Roar Away - better that than hold it in and pop a blood vessel. Ack! So much for no words, huh...

On to happier things -
Congratulations to your neighbor! I'd consider doing the bread cupcake/muffin style. Or if a loaf, I wonder if slicing then sliding 2 pieces of parchment paper (stiffer than wax paper) between the slices would work? Or call it spoon bread and serve it with spoon if it's that delicate.
And I'm glad those patterns all got new homes, hopefully ones where they better chances of being stitched up than if I'd have gotten any!
The little framed sampler part - Sweeeeet!

Robin beat me to the punch Marly . I too was going to say it might be time to call the local news station and/or your public health department as the situation is clearly out of hand . I can only imagine how unhealthy this has become for your sister ,who you and your wonderful husband have worked SO HARD to bring back to a healthier more comfortable life. Their intentions were so kind and good but the next layer of help is clearly letting them down (probably over whelmed themselves).

Love the pin keep patterns...on 46 WOW! Maybe Servpro for clean up? I agree with the suggestions of broadcasting for help with kitty situation. There are people out there who may come forward to assist. I would if I was closer. Hugs!

Marly, give Odo Ban a try. It kills human urine odor dead. Nice smell. Pretty cheap. Amazon has it. Sams/Walmart probably has it too. I picked up a 2 oz spray bottle to try at dollar store. Jen

Your stitching looks fabulous in the frame! And love Stacy Nash her pinkeep.
I am so sorry for the cat problems and it is so unhealthy for all those living in this house with so many cats. I don't know what the possibillyties are in your country, but you did all you could do so don't feel quilty please Marly!
As Robin says, publicity is worth to try.
Great news for your neighbour-- congratulations to him!
Take care and enjoy his party.,Truus from Holland

They advertise that poopf that is supposed to be very successful at eliminating odors as they use it at sanitary facilities and such. Just a suggestion, otherwise I would be losing my mind in your situation to be sure. Beautiful finish by the way.

Ditto on OdoBan...it is a staple here.... clean aroma. The very
best to your neighbor and all he accomplished and is paying
forward. The regrettable cat situation should not be your burden and removal of the male culprit might be the start of
a solution. You need a good deal more consideration and
cooperation on that other end. The framing of your piece is perfect and the new project looks like another winner. Try
to have a relaxing weekend stitching away.

Congrats to your neighbor who did things the right way and is living the American dream. I'm sure nothing was handed to him.
Love your little finish. You just amaze me how much you accomplish.
No words on the cat situation. I won't call it what it really is. Nothing worse than the smell of cat urine. You always have gone above and beyond with Carole. Don't ever feel guilty that you and Mark can't do more. You are Saint Marly in my book.
Sending a big virtual hug ;-)

What a beautiful finish! I need to stitch this one. I cannot fathom the stress you are having with all of the cats. Not a good situation at all. Janice

Your framed finish is just perfect, Marly. Love the painted frame, too. And I have no doubt you'll find a perfect finish for the little redwork piece you are now stitching. Just shaking my head when I read about all the cats. It reminds me of that classic 1928 book by Wanda Gag called Millions of Cats. "Cats, here. Cats, there. Cats and kittens everywhere. Hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions, and billions, and trillions of cats." One of my sons favorites and now my grandson adores it, too :) Hope some solutions are found soon! ♥
