My oh my. Friends told me that the laser repair of a retinal tear was quick and a piece of cake. My treatment for detached retina was not so sweet. The nurse said she never had a patient tolerate those laser settings. Did I have a choice? My rear end was lifting off the table and the procedure lasted much longer than I expected. Great doctor and staff, explained there was still fluid at the outline resulting in two passes around the horseshoe flap. Still nauseous, dizzy, off balance and very grateful. The bubble shaking and distorting my vision is not helping and will be present for a while. Sleeping upright with head down will also continue.
I have a request. Until my vision returns, searching online is quite difficult. I have decided to make a few decorative pins with beads from some of Mom's and Carole's jewelry. What are those fancy pincushion pins called? When I tried searching for 3" and 4" pins for jewelry or beads, they are flexible for earrings and such, not sturdy at all. What are those pins called? Hat pins?
Chris was released from hospital, severe inflammation of esophagus, stomach. He is still finding totes with her clothes and I was hoping it would get easier to sort them. It is not. I considered cutting this sweater for a pillow, not enough of a margin for small ornaments. But someone would love to wear this I'm sure, probably better to donate. Mark is missing her so much, especially when making her favorite dinners that he enjoyed sharing.
That's all. Head is spinning, time to stop.
Hope everyone is well.

Continued thoughts and prayers for your recovery following the laser surgery, Marly.
Marly you are having a time. I so hope things settle in the near future for you and your family. I looked up jewelry on Amazon, look up brooch pins and also head pins. I hope this helps. Jen
Try boutonniere or corsage pins. get at least 3" long.
Oh my Marly: You are having a time of it. They are called headpins or ball pins for making jewelry, I would just google ball pons for making jewelry. You can find them on Amazon and Fire Mountain sites. Let us know how it goes. I too would make a pillow so cute it would be.

Marly, you are in my thoughts as you recover from the eye surgery and the fall. Hang in there and, like I told myself, this too shall pass. Take care, Cherie in WI
Hoping both you and Chris are doing better today. I'm sure you all are missing Carole so much!!!
So relieved that the surgery went well and that you are recovering, Marly. What a scary experience to go through. I hope you continue to improve--as well as Chris. Crazy how much your family has been through since she passed. Take care now and know we're all thinking of you! ♥
Anything with the eye seems to especially traumatic. I hope you recover quickly. I could never do the sleeping in a chair with head down thing. They'd have to strap and tie me into that position and they suffer 1001 curses. Hope Chris gets to feeling better... that's no fun either. I have Barrett's esophagus. Yesterday was 1 years since my husband passed and I have not yet gone through his clothes. ~Robin~
Still sending healing prayers for you and Chris-- get wel soon both of you.
Take your time to grief-- there is not a time that says -- so now is your time to grief over and have fun again. Even after 26 years I still miss my sister simetimes.
Take care and stay save...lots of love to both of you,Truus from Holland
For pincushion pins? I'd think head pins might be too soft and blunt/snaggy unless sharpened to use in a pincushion. Here's a couple of ideas that might work...

I did a search for "hat pin jewelry finding" it seemed to help cut out pre-made pins. A couple of other terms to look for are corsage pins or lapel pins. Hope this helps and not too confusing. And if it is a softer pin you want, both of those links also have head pins too.
I'm glad the laser thing went OK, can't imagine having to look at that for 2 rounds. I hope the results are what's hoped for.
Yeeks - just saw the news - I hope the snow isn't causing you power outages and other woes!
I always see ladies on flosstube referring to those large decorative pins as counting pins. They are very elaborately decorated most times and stuck in decorative larger pin cushions or drums. Prayers for all of you!
There is a youtube tutorial on making decorative counting pins if that helps.
That laser procedure sounds so scary. I've had cataract surgery and that was scary enough! Hope you are continuing to heal my friend. Thoughts and prayers for you and Chris.
I am praying for your recovery and relief my dear friend.
