It will be weeks before the bubble in my eye will disappear, but even with distorted vision, I saw something unusual.
Every day there are multiple cardinals at the feeder, waiting their turn on the branches, never alone. This guy was alone. No others even close. But he was sort of ... glowing. An orangey pinky lighter shade of cardinal red.
Through binoculars, I could see pale pink and a few white feathers on his back, the red was much brighter. My phone and tablet were unable to get a clear photo at that distance, and he flew into a bush.
Is he an outcast? Have you ever seen an anomaly like this?

He’s a special visitor sent by Carole to let you know she’s at peace. My momma leaves dimes for me and 2 weeks ago after we left hospital where my MIL had just passed away. We walked into the room at home and there was a single dime in the middle of the floor. I think momma was letting us know that she had Kay with her already.
He's a piebald cardinal. It's a genetic mutation called leucism. They're quite rare and if you can get a good, clear photo of him, whatever your version of Dept of Natural Resources is would probably be interested in logging him.
We have a leucistic red-tailed hawk in our neighborhood; he's mostly white. And we have a piebald yearling fawn also, she looks like a pinto pony.
