The Sewing Club smalls

Hi folks.  Hope everyone is doing well.

I previously posted about BBD's Sewing Club book and the number of drum finishes included.   I made the working copies of the smalls I plan to work on.  Choosing fabric is always my biggest problem which causes confused and wasted days.  Most projects are 40 count which would not work well with these, so choosing 28, 30, 32, 36 along with color is really tough.

A recap of my picks from this wonderful book.

The first can be a needle roll or small bowl filler.

This is shown as a pincushion but is suitable for a drum finish.

Four other drums.

This sewing bag is gorgeous.

I don't remember seeing many finishes of this sampler, lovely design, but I'm passing because of size.

I have several other small projects I'm considering, not sure what to do!  Been a few rough days, and the older I get the less I can handle several things at one time.  Or two.  But starting a project tomorrow after the doctor is a must, even if I have to ask hubs to choose it.

Be well. Stay safe.

I'm sorry you've had some rough days. ("More" rough days as you've already had your share and then some.) I don't think you could possibly make a bad choice among those projects. It shames me...I have that book and only have done one small needle drum. Perhaps it was my choice of fabric and floss. Sigh. Sadly, I never did have (and probably never will have) the ingenuity to change things up. I guess I always thought that if I loved the design, I wanted mine to look like the model...and learned too late that (a) the photos of the models don't always (rarely??) actually represent the project accurately and (b) that the designers' original choices can, in fact, be improved upon. Wishing you good news at the dr tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

Love all of these "dr;ums" so pretty. Wish my burning fingers would let me stitch. I'm sorry you've had those rough days. So many more than you deserve. Did a little raking yesterday. Such a pretty day here. Will have to do a little at a time. Very good to get outside in the sun. Thinking of you ! Best wishes.

I, too, favor the one you find too large (?)....but My Garden is as enchanting! I wonder what linen is used, if they dyed it...
Sending well wishes, Marly..

Hi Marly: Love the Blackbird Designs you are going to stitch, I hope all is getting better for you. In the last post about the Bargello heart, I found a few that look close to the one you have pictured, I found it by searching Bargello Heart designs, I hope you find the pattern to stitch it.

You are triggering my stitching mojo which needs a jump start! I haven’t had a moment to just sit and sort out my next project but a new BBD start may be needed.

Any of these would be lovely, Marly! I have never made a drum and probably won't attempt one. Plus, I really like being able to see the entire design in a finish. I hope one pops out at you as "the" one to stitch! Good luck at the doctor--it seems that we spend more and more time at the doctor's office these days, doesn't it. I don't like it one bit. Take care now and I hope that this beautiful sunshine helps with the rough days. ♥

Well wishes for the doc visit. So, put all the kitted projects in a box, tub, whatever by your stitching chair, reach in a grab. All are great and if done the fun(or hard) stuff all ready. I don’t think I have this book I’ll need to add it to my want list. As for the too big one, either divide in half and make two (drums would work) or a band here and a band there until you are happy. Thank you for posting. Well wishes, Bobbi
