Royal School of Needlework

 Hi folks.

The laptop I purchased almost two years ago is finally being used and the old one whose keyboard no longer works must be recycled.  If I had known how easy it is to transfer old to new, I would have done it long ago.  My tablet is 15+ years old and also creating problems.  In moving bookmarks and deleting years of clutter, I found this site in my sewing folder.  I haven't taken the time for a thorough browse but there is a great amount of stitches to learn.  Thanks to Periwinkle (Sian), many of us are taking an interest in embroidery.  She really made me laugh when she commented about the older thin Weeks linen saying that you could shoot peas through it.

There are so so many tubers to watch, but what makes some stand out and really become favorites?  What they feature?  Their personality and presentation?  Voice?  Mannerism?  Some receive negative comments regarding their haul, but I shop their haul.  Seeing what others are acquiring when there is so much I would not see otherwise, is close to my favorite part of the videos.  It's a video about needlework and stash is a part of it.

So here's the link if you're interested for the Royal School of Needlework.

https://rsnstitchbank.org/wall

This will take you to the wall showing every stitch on its site, and clicking on them opens to photo instructions for creating each one. Many options to search and explore hundreds.  Just a snippet shown here.

I miss getting magazines and refuse digital reading. So I decided to look for a few deals with EASY cancellation of auto renew.  Found them.  I got Real Simple for $12yr without auto renew. Country Home for $15yr with a free year of BH&G, and a bonus Traditional Home in print for $8yr.  And I got Country Living online and print with full access to prior issues for $14yr.  I refuse to pay close to $10 or some even higher for one issue in a store.  I know they have changed over the years but I still enjoy magazines, and subscriptions will help keep them around.
The crabass is pleased.

That's all folks.

Great deals on the magazines, Marly! I, too, prefer paper versus online; too much online reading bothers my eyes. Thank you also for the link to the stitches! Will check it out later.

Thanks for that link Marly! Great deal on your magazines. I used to love Country Living and Victoria, but I won't pay the prices in stores either.

I’m with you on magazines, Marly. I miss them, too. Some I subscribed to
for decades are now online so I dropped them. It’s just not the same as sitting in your favorite chair and turning the pages! Now Country Sampler will be digital only so that will be gone, too! But, I will look into some you mentioned as long as it’s not auto renewal. I refuse to pay over $10 in the stores, as well! Have a good weekend. Cherie in WI

I'm glad you got transferred over to the new laptop without issue. (It's about time! ;-) ) It has always amazed me how many different stitches there are. I took a hand tailoring class in high school and thought that there were a ton to learn there (I made a winter coat)...but they were just the tip of a very large iceberg. Re Flosstubes... I think I've said before I don't watch many...if any. There are just too many out there. There is one person who has somewhat similar tastes to me that I've watched several times but that's it. I need to spend more time stitching and less time being tempted. Glad you found some good deals on magazines. Yes, I prefer printed matter over digital every time. I'm surprised Country Living is still around...yikes. I have boxes and boxes of old issues in my basement that I need to recycle. Gah!

I, too, prefer to have a magazine in hand. No digitals for me. I just cancelled my Country Sampler magazine since they are no longer printing. I only got $10 and change for my year, but I am sure I would not gotten $10 worth online. I used to get at least a half dozen magazines a month. Now I am down to Better Homes and Gardens and I wonder how long that will continue to be printed. Our world is a changin’!

I love watching Sian. A few others I watch are Saltbox Stitcher, Brenda and the Serial Starter, Contended Needleworker Kin and the Tattooed Stitcher. I hate online magazines. Many magazines I use to subscribed to are gone or online Janice

Hi Marly: I always thought it would be hard transferring data, thank-you for the link.
I only get one magazine.

I sure miss print magazines, too, Marly. For years, when I was busiest raising my three boys, that's all I read because they were so easy to pick up and put down. I do read a couple online through the library's Libby app--not ideal, but I enjoy browsing through the cross stitch and decorating magazines from time to time.
