Part 2

I did not like that solid black.  Not sure what other overdyed floss would be a good choice, I have leftover GAST Black Crow and it is a bluish black.  So I am using the WDW Charcoal, a warm gray with brown variegation.

When stitched, I think it's dark enough and the browns are ok with me.  The solid black was too stark for the look I want.

Dye is Rit Charcoal with a drop of blue, and a drop of marigold for the brown.

And since I don't stitch much at all for halloween, a tombstone never dawned on me!  Thanks Robin, it would have taken a while, if ever, to realize that.

I am feeling fatigued, no physical work today.  We added tung oil to the brazilian cherry rocker I purchased decades ago after an entire day of cleaning and scrubbing it.  My cedar chair and swing were burned last week after finding what appeared to be termite damage.  Yes, they can.  Cedar is not as resilient to rot and insects as we thought.  Lost two log benches, a deck, and split rail fence to rot.

Taking a ride to snag a few Ice Cubes at the specialty food shop.  Carole's date was finally etched into her headstone, another skilled profession that is fading away.  He is the last and plans to retire.  The memorials are engraved when installed of course, but family stones need dates added as members pass.  Many have stones in place with pre-planned/paid funerals and need this service also.

Enjoy your weekend.  Last one in July.

I am so crabby.

Great choice on the floss I think...I'm using Charcoal right now for a piece (I think...I get confused when I have more than 1 WIP at a time)...but, yikes! That was a lot of stitching to redo! The more I see of your linen, the more in love with it I am. So perfect for this piece. Funny you mentioned the gravestone engraving. My husband's stone was finally placed a little bit ago and the guy who did it is also retiring soon. I wonder who will be putting my dod on it. Sorry to hear about the termite damage. Eeek. I hope you'll be replacing your beloved swing. Maybe teak?? Ice Cubes....yum!

Such a pity from your swing and hope you can replace the chair.
I don't like black animals in my stitching and will use dark brown. Did you start again or unpick the blackbird.
Hope you are feeling well soon.
Take care Marly, Truus from Holland

Those darn bugs--so sorry to read that your swing is gone, Marly! Carpenter ants got our front porch pretty badly about ten years ago and it was quite costly to have portions of the wood replaced. Hope you get some energy soon... I'm feeling the same way, just lacking energy and am attributing it to this ridiculous heat and humidity. Who knows? Take care now...

Greetings Marly: I like the thread change, so sorry about the termites, pesky little turds they are. Please share a photo of the rocker you finished.
