The dark side of Dorothy

I want to thank everyone for the well wishes and prayers for my sister.  They changed the date on us because of a death in the doctor's family.  Now, it is Monday.
If you notice, Dorothy was 24 years old when she stitched this sampler, far older than most of the primitive design stitchers.  Was she ill in her young life?  You would think by this age she would have mastered the needle, yet her design is still very primitive.

Backing is the perfect shade of an olive brown uncut corduroy.

I love her!  I still haven't received my linen order (they are located in my state) and I'm so anxious to see how dark these pieces will be.
For those of you that asked, I will post the pork recipe tomorrow.  I need to hit the stash stack once again and spend the day in a state of confusion.
Have a great day!

Beautiful work...love the colors.

She came out perfect Marly. Perhaps her stitches weren't that perfect as this was her first attempt. I know that with all the samplers I've stitched I can still get some wonky ones.

Very mysterious about Dorothy! But your theory of her perhaps being sick as a child seems like a good one.... It is a great finish... love both the pattern and the colors, and of course the choice of backing for such a great little pillow!
Ugh.... sorry about your sister's appointment being pushed back... I'm sure you all just want to have it over with....

Marly, I just saw your pin on Pinterest. Wow, I love her too. I think this one is my favorite so far. Love the colors on the dark linen. Well done my friend! I really, really love it.

Dorothy is stunning. A job very well done. I have a daughter who has Williams Syndrome and could not accomplish this wonderful sampler as well as Dorothy and my Sandy is 48 Y.O. Mentally challenged people have existed since the beginning of time, sooo??? I would say that this possibility would make this sampler even more of a Treasure. Guess we will never know.
No matter Dorothy is outstanding.
