A little start, a lot of colors

Hi all.  I'm heady from paint fumes but thought I would show my next little sampler start from Chessie and Me, H. Kesssel.
Small and simple.  The bottom row is all motifs and I think it will be a really nice finish.  These were the types I used to design to sell at the shop, can't find, and may try to work up a few as my next project.
Right now, we're in the midst of this.
Naturally, the paint I chose was perfect in the half pint sample, and much darker with more pink in the gallon.  Historic selection of Valspar - Homestead Resort Parlor Taupe.  Really a neutral tan/beige/taupe, but where did they come up with that name?   It's a homestead - no, it's a resort - no, it's a parlor!  I don't really care anymore.  I wanted a true neutral with no cream or yellow cast, nor greenish or pinkish taupe.  I prefer this because I like the darker colonial colors on the trim to be a sharp contrast and the walls to be more of a whitewash grayish not warm and not white darker but neutral with no cast of any kind which is difficult to find.  They roll their eyes and run for cover when they see me coming.  Now I have to pick the trim color and it's not easy for me.  Dark?  Very dark?  Gray/green?  Taupes?

Sherwin Williams' old Curio Gray has always been one of my favorites and I have it in mom's bedroom.  I'm leaning toward an olive brown, greenish gray, dark blue, mustard, grayish taupe, but that will change I'm sure. Always afraid I will change my mind, and I will, so might as well just jump right in and get this room done.

I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.
I'll have my nose in paint samples and elderberry pie.
Thanks for visiting!

Elderberry pie. YUM !
Several rooms in my home need to be painted but I just don't know what color I want to use. Decisions, decisions !
Have a happy weekend no matter what you do.

I am working on a piece in blues and browns... with a pop of autumnal overdyed. It's cute... Maybe I will finish it soon...am too sick to concentrate now...I know your pain with paint color decision-making. Ugh! but when you find the perfect color, you must share cause I need that color when we repaint here! Hugs!

Lovely new start! I hate choosing paint colors. I already want a different color in my sewing room. It hasn't even been a year yet. lol!

Looks like you have some good ideas. Paint colors can really be a challenge. I use posters painted the colors I'm thinking about. Better than painting a whole wall and not liking it.

This search for the perfect colour reminds me of my favourite old film ' Mr Blandings builds his Dream House' where Myrna Loy goes to such great pains to explain the exact colours she wants to her decorator. She walks away and the decorator checks out the colours with his assistant - who has written 'Green, Blue, Yelliow' !! Oh I love that old film. Good luck with your 'Grey'!! Irene xxx

Sweet sampler Marly. No help with paint from me. If Brian would let me, I would paint every room in a different shade of pink!! Maybe.

Have you looked at Benjamin Moore? I like their Historical Colors. One color that is gray taupe is Edgecomb Gray. I love the color but wish it could be darker. The shop can make it darker for you, maybe even in one of the small sample quart sizes. It is a true gray taupe w/o green. I have some of the Valspar Colonial Beige (they don't have a card). It is gray taupe but has some green in it. Primitive Stitcher Picture Trail has it in her home. I painted a small wooden box with it and really like it. I love your home and wish I could make progress on stitching like you do! I am doing the Santas from The Prairie Schooler. I bought the patterns when they came out in my last life (hee, hee) and did some but can't find them! Starting over now! Best wishes!
