Love gourds!

Hiya!  Thanks again for your kindness regarding my sister.  She got a call today to set up home health checks, because they feel she will have another episode within 30 days.  Now we are more concerned than before.
I wanted to show you what I found online at Fanatic's Country Attic.   Primitive gourd spoons and bowls.  Love them. Be sure to click on My Spirit of Seven in her sidebar to see her rescued pets.

With or without dried beans.  Those are dried turnips that come with the spoons.  I restrung the gourds to hang lower.

As for stitching, this damn bird has been a real chameleon.  He's been rust and gold and beige and pink and I haven't been pleased with any.

It's a small sampler and this guy seems to be where the eye focuses.  I don't want it to be gaudy, yet that's what I see.
There are no other colors that appeal to me with the blue, so 928 was substituted for 407 and I am using the 950 as charted.  Instead of 2 shades of blue and 2 shades of pink, he will be 3 blues and 1 pink.  I think I can live with this.
I'll be really ticked and embarrassed if I remove that third blue and put the charted pink back.  Any bets?  As I look at the photos here....hmmm. The other motifs are bright but small and I like them.  Maybe it's the bird's pose that's bugging me but something is.  He's not the only thing.  One more intense flash at the wrong time and there will be a wicked rant post of all the minor yet annoying nuisances that have really chapped my hide in this last week of 2013.
Which means it's the last weekend of 2013 already.  Enjoy it ~ stay safe.
Thanks for visiting.

It must be so very scary to hear news like you've heard regarding your sister.... I hope all is well and she proves them wrong... saying prayers for her.
I like the way the bird is looking in the 3 shades of blue with pink.... not quite as 'tropical' as you had suggested in an earlier post.
Love those gourd spoons and bowl! They're great!

Keeping your sister in my prayers and hoping for the best.
I love the gourds, simple and pretty.
I like the latest colors for the bird but I know how it is when something just doesn't hit right.

Lots of good thoughts and prayers for your sister. At least she will have someone watching out for her. I hope she doesn't have another episode and they are just erring on the side of caution. Hugs.

I can't help with the bird colors, but what if you worked all the other parts of the sampler and then decided on the bird colors?

Thinking of and praying for you and your sister. My mom has congestive heart failure too, and along with her kidney disease, it's a very delicate balance keeping the fluid levels where they should be.

I know it seems like you and your sister are living on a roller coaster.. I feel for both of you and am praying that there will be continued good health for your sister..
Your gourds are so interesting and make a nice arrangement. Love them in the bowl of beans too.
I wouldn't have the foggiest notion about colors for your bird.. I know you'll come up with a combination that will please you.
Hoping and praying for a healthy new year for you and your family.

Marley, thinking about you and your sister. Why don't you stitch more of the sampler and then decide about the bird.
