Who wants Hannah Haines??

Hi everyone.  Got snow?  I do.  Several inches that will melt in a day or two, and I plan on celebrating it as being the last.
I will be finishing Hannah in a day or two and since there is interest in finding this OOP chart, I thought I would offer it.  A little more border and one more line of stitching ~ decision time.
Frame?  That would be nice.  My wonky style pictured it as a sack with an end flap and big black button, perfect size for my rulers.  And then I happened to set down my 10.1 tablet after cleaning the screen.  I've been looking for a pouch and this sampler's size is perfect.  But do I want a padded pouch for it or a stand?  A stand, which I haven't found locally since the majority are for iPads.  They are available online so maybe I will order and make the pouch to hold the tablet in its stand.  Or not.
And here's some news - I think I finally have a cabinet maker!  After 18 months of waiting for broken promises from four carpenters, this gentleman named Dominic (my dad's name), is meeting with me Monday morning in his shop.  Here's the catch.  I can't have what I planned.  He will only make the three cabinets I purchased doors for, won't install, won't come out to the house for measurements, won't do the fridge cabinet, won't do the large corner pantry cupboards in the new room.  At this point, I don't give a damn.  I just want things back in order, painted, completed.  I will never get what I wanted or the changes I drew unless I order an entire new kitchen.  My cabinets are solid wood, I like them, I refuse to replace the entire lot in order to get a few additional.  If Ed can't come to help us, we will be doing the additional features ourselves.  Am I disappointed?  Yes.  But it's just a kitchen and I will accept what I have and let it go.   Right after I mail this sweet thank you note to the cabinet makers that failed me..
"Just want to thank you for telling me to purchase custom doors from my cabinet company in order to save you time and setup. Your dishonesty caused me to pay a load of shipping costs. I also appreciate your efforts to feign integrity by making promises you failed to keep. Your lack of respect for customers waiting months only to find out you now refuse their calls is unparalleled.  Since your business has reached the top of these negative ethics, your work probably reflects the same . I will be happy to tell others and encourage them to tell their friends, too.  Word of mouth is certainly important in any business."
Don't mess with Mother Menopause.
Anyway, if you would like to have Hannah Haines in your stash, leave a comment on this post, initials if anonymous, and Random will choose on Thursday at 8pm EST.
Have a great day!!

Hannah is looking so good but I'd better not get in the line-up to own her,I have so much going on right now. Good for you, give the guy H---! I am sending SW air a very nasty e-mail today myself!!! Delays all over the place yesterday. We had to wait 3 extra hours for a crew to fly us home. We left our DIL's at 9:40 am got home at 11:30pm!!!

I would put the same note for the carpenter guy on the Better Business Bureau, or any of those other places where people go to find contractors. You need to make them suffer! Nice note! Love Hannah. Don't need to put my name in the hat though. Snow? Heaven forfend.

I would also add... "thanks for putting the CON in Contractor"! Drives me nuts to hear folks putting out so much hard earned money for nothing but aggravation... Sure wish I could send out the guy that did our kitchen... but, he is retired as of last year. Love this sampler! But, don't enter me in the drawing as I have too many patterns in my stash already... Hope you have a SUPER sunday!!!

I would love to have Hannah Haines come visit my house, Marly! Thank you for hosting the drawing.

I also agree with the above poster about informing the BBB about your cabinet makers.

Have an enjoyable Sunday!

We had snow last night in Ohio, too. Thankfully, though still cold, the sun is melting it.
Happy Sunday to you.
Hugs :)

Oh Marly so sorry the kitchen saga continues and sure wish I could send my brother your way to finish it as you dreamed. He's such an honest contracter that he's a rare breed and stays busy all the time.

Hannah looks great and I can't wait to see the finished pouch for your Samsung. Please throw my name in the hat for a chance to win this chart.

I hate you are still having snow but bet the kitties are enjoying extra snuggling time in the house.

I love your note to the carpenters. This has happened to many of us. I am always amazed that they don't care about their job.

Hannah is so unique. She had my attention immediately. I have searched several old sites in hopes of finding someone who was willing to part with her. I was the lucky winner of Lydia and Frances and have finished them. (Beautiful!)My fingers are crossed XXXX.

Goodness! What trials you've been through with carpenters. I hope that this guy can produce the goods for you, it's soooo frustrating when folks let you down. Looking forward to seeing progress pics on your kitchen.

Hello Marley,

Oh my goodness what trouble with the kitchen you have had. Hope things get worked out to your satisfaction. If we have had trouble with someone who comes into the home to do work and it wasn't satisfactory I take a certain amount of the bill and a note why. Never had someone come back and complain! Would love to be included in your giveaway.

Happy stitching.
Bev.

I would love to have the Hannah Haines pattern. No snow here in central Texas...temps are reaching the 80s already...that's the bright side of living here: if it snows (hardly ever), it melts before you have to shovel it. On the other hand, summers are like one continuous looooong hot flash.

How frustrating! We've lost so many talented people that just don't learn to do things the old-fashioned way.

Hannah is beautiful, I would love the chance to give her a new home, or to stitch her myself. I love your blog - it is one of my regular stops in blogland! I am so sorry to hear about your cabinetry/kitchen problems - we had our contractor quit on us most of the way through, and can just imagine the utter frustration you are feeling. And Mother Menopause gave me a great giggle! Nancy
