with old tablecloths? Linen that needs pressed, one little coffee stain, patterns no one wants? I got rid of mom's because of the stains that would not come out, now my brother is throwing more at me. Beautiful fabric, but who wants these old style that appear to be linen and wrinkle like heck?
This all over pattern is so pretty and I believe it's linen, just like the huge hemstitched off white and gold one. It would take forever to search for small stains in natural light and I don't have the time, nor do I care. Some are cotton, maybe a blend, but you can't offer them unless you're sure there isn't a stain yet throwing them out is unacceptable. Maybe I'll cut them up and add the pieces to a ridiculous mountain of other saved fabric I have no intention of using. Drives me nuts.
Anyway, this afternoon we will hopefully have more information on treatment, if any, to help Carole. She just can't breathe, walk very far, and diuretics are not removing enough fluid. The only good thing is the lungs are clear. From what the cardio said, I don't think there is much they can do and the drastic surgery that this doc is insisting on, will not address her difficulties. So. Whether they decide on the surgery, treatment, hospitalization, I will be tied up. Her food, house, decorating, shopping, everything. She just can't do a thing. Which brings me to a dilemma. I have not heard from Dawn. I can't wait because I may not even be on the computer for a time and want to take care of this. The other time I thought a winner did not contact me, I offered it to another and the first winner also claimed it so I ended up with two. The mistake she made was replying to the email post she received from Blogger. If you receive posts through your email, you cannot reply. It goes no where. So Dawn, if that's what you did, please use the email link at the top right to contact me.
I carried mom's wheelchair down from the attic, lifted it in and out of the car a dozen times for several appointments Monday, will do it again today. So just like bending over a hundred times while raking leaves doesn't take a pound off, neither does weightlifting. I'm still a growing girl. Damn. It's also not easy to push her weight up a sloped parking lot, over a rubber covered threshold, through manual double doors that automatically close but not open, and then hold to prevent a runaway chair down the parking lot hill. We had a good laugh. This is a transport chair with small wheels, not easy like the big boys and although they are offered inside, she needs it from her home to the car and before we enter the buildings.
.
Take care - enjoy your day.
Thanks for visiting.

I ended up using the tablecloths for a quilt backing. I love your tree and I know about wheel chairs (not a easy task). Take care of yourself during the next couple of weeks also.
I use linens all over the place, as linens (like covering on card tables and misc tables in my house)... Gisela has a good idea! Would Carole be eligible to get a wheelchair with her insurance? Perhaps one that is easier for YOU to maneuver? Hoping so... Big Hugs!
Older linens are wonderful. Maybe you could use them in other crafts, or give them away. Hope you have an easier day with Carole's appointments.
Old linens are great to stitch on. You could do small pillows, pin cushions, pin keeps, etc.
I hope they come up with a plan of action that actually helps your sister. And possibly a drink a night might help you cope . Heck it might help Carole cope. No one should drink alone anyway.
love the old linens, I will say a prayer for your sister and one for you too. hugs lynda ruth
I love your blog. You teach us, entertain us and
we are sharing your troubles with you. My
mother lived with me for almost 5 years so I
know how hard the transporting is. Mother
had the walker with the seat so most of the
time I let her out at the door and she'd walk
a little and rest a min. until we got there.
Even the transport chairs are heavy. I'll say
a prayer for you and your sister. Julia
I would be just like you with the old linens...not sure what to do with them, but not inclined to throw them away, either. (I especially like the red folk art-sy ones...I keep wondering if they could be made into a bag or basket liner or pillow back or...okay, must stop now!)
I love the old linens and have drawers full of them. I have my favorites that I use when I need something like that. Need to get tough and let go of a lot of them. I hate that your sister to going through such a horrible time. It is so wonderful for her that she has you. I hope something good will happen for all of you. Sandra
Sounds like you have your hands full for sure. I am wishing the best for your sister, prayers are on the way. In the meantime, take care of yourself and don't get too rundown with all you have to do. Best wishes for a good outcome.
Can't do much for you, other than to pray for Carole and think about you until we hear from you again. I hope all will go well for all of you.
I love your table clothes.. Could you use them as backing for your cross stitch ? You'd still have the memories.
Wishing and hoping and praying,

Praying for you and your sister! Don't have a solution about the table linens unless you used them to back your projects with.

PS Like the picture of your tree.
When my mother was alive her doctor filled out the necessary paperwork for a handicap tag. It was easy to procure one and made it so much easier for us when we could use the handicap parking spots. Hope this helps. I always check your blog first. You make me laugh. I will be 60 in a month and also don't know how I got here so fast! Take care and have a blessed holiday. Janet C. in TN
You're a good sister, Marly. I hope things get better for Carole.
That little tree is perfect. <3
Just saw where I won your giveaway and appreciate all the congratulations from all the bloggers. I'm really excited. We have two cats and one is a tuxedo and he is wild. Always into everything. Merry Christmas to you and all your readers.

Holy Cow as my Mother would have said, we are living parallel lives with the transport chairs. My husband broke his back a couple months ago and now one month after major surgery that darn chair and I are joined in life. I sure hope there are some reasonable solutions for your sister. It is never easy with complicated health issues. Take care, good vibes coming your way. That tree is perfect. Absolutely perfect. I am going out into my woods and cut one down. Blessings to you and yours.
Make sure you take care of yourself while taking care of your sister. Wasn't your knee still causing you trouble? I hope there is good news for your sister. It's all so scary. :( As for tablecloths, I have no clue. lolol! Big help I am!
you can send them to meeee!!! ;)
Merry Christmas! Marly, you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. SAH
I've cut the table linens into smaller sizes that I use for other areas like my grandma's antique china hutch, the buffet or a dresser. You can still sell them or give them away even if they have stains, holes, etc. Just state that there are stains, holes and unknown fabric. Love that tree!
Prayers for you and your sister.
I really like your folk art style tablecloths. My grandmother was born and raised in Norway before she was split with her twin and sent to America to be a housemaid for her Uncle. That is a story in itself. But anyway the folk art tablecloth reminded me of her. I look at it and think punch needle designs a new needlework that I am doing besides the samplers and rug hooking waiting in the bedroom. What was I thinking? I still work full time! Any hooo...I work in a rehab and people who can't walk or get around the Social Workers and docs write/justify power wheelchairs. Just wondering. You have to save your body so you can start fires! That's another story too. I used to be a firetower operator spotting fires...another lifetime ago. Best job every!
You are a wonderful sister! And have a fantastic approach to difficulties in life.
Old linens are beautiful and could make lovely backing fabric for stitched pieces or quilts, I am sure you will be able to use them!
Take care
