Good day to all. Carole has improved enough to send her home. What a difference out of ICU. She is weak but will get stronger every day, now that she can walk without gasping for air. Amazing. Mark and I will make the trip tomorrow and stop at a Whole Foods market we saw on the way home Monday. Never been to one before, and we saw other shops to visit also. Thank goodness the freezing rain is over but other areas in the Northeast are going to get hammered again. I hope this is the end. Can't imagine what they are dealing with. And of course, I worry about the starving and buried animals in that amount of snow.
I ordered more raw/natural Belfast and was surprised that it's not easy to find in all shops. I ordered two pieces and she said they are from different bolts and one is darker. I wish there was more consistency with linen colors. One of my favorite pieces of fabric was a gift from a stitching friend, 18th Century Rook, on little Dorothy. I purchased several pieces online and not one was even close to the odd bronzy green that I loved. My latest came in as this, which I dislike and will never use. Not as scratchy and rough, much softer and finer, not for me. Don't you just love that Dorothy Allen sampler?
As for the Fraktur Friends, not sure if I will use the tent stitch on silk gauze or cross stitch on linen. I never used a hoop and understand that it's the method for gauze. We'll see.
We're off to get groceries and fill the fridge for Carole since she won't be driving for a while.
Have a great day!!
Thanks for visiting.

Great news Marly! Safe travels out and back. And, yes, I love the Dorothy Allen sampler...you need to quit showing me things I like so much - lol.
Marly
This is amazing news...it seems so soon, after all she has endured. Please enjoy a safe journey. I don't have a Whole Foods near me, but hear it's a wonderful place to shop...pricey but great quality!

What wonderful news! I know you'll both feel better at home and in your own beds, back to your own "normal".
Thanks so much for the 'Good News'.
Never heard of Whole Foods ... maybe it just has not reached the west coast yet.
I like the Dorothy Allen Sampler too. So sweet!
I have a piece of 18th Century Rook and it is a dark dark brown and stiff and wrinkled. Glad to hear that your sister is doing so well.
Amen! So glad she comes home tomorrow. Enjoy your pit stops along the way. I am praying for your travels.

Oh my, the news just keeps getting better and better, I can almost feel the relief in your text(voice). So very happy for you and for Carole also! I love Whole Foods but my husband doesn't. He only eats junk food!LOL
So glad Carole's health is looking up. ...jan
Yay! That's great! We call Whole Foods - Whole paycheck! They do have some good coffee beans though! I sent you an email - hope you got it!
Wow! How wonderful that Carole is coming home!! Have fun checking out the new places... I like Whole Foods, but the one around here is always so crowded, and finding a parking spot is hard.
"Dorothy" is a great little sampler!!
That is great news about your sister. I hope she gets home and continues to get better all the time. I do think Dorothy is a wonderful sampler. Too bad about the linen. I have had color problems myself. Usually, I fall in love with a color and can't find it again. Very frustrating!
Happy days are here for you both ... wonderful!
Wonderful news.
Safe travels.
Hugs :)

Being home after hospital sure makes a difference.
Awesome news!
Good news! I guess linen is like any fabric...dye lots different every time.
Wonderful news!
Wow what a difference in colour!! It's nowhere near it.
Such good news! Safe travels going to get her. I'm glad you don't have the weather we will be having. Sigh. (I ordered Fractur Friends because of you.) (Whole Foods is great! We rarely go, but DS has one very close by.)
This is wonderful news. I am so happy for you both. Being home will make a huge difference. I will continue my prayers for you and Carole. Dorothy is beautiful. You do such beautiful work... I love it. The green is so unusual.
So good to hear she I'd doing well and coming home! Be safe and enjoy you time.
Happy to hear Carole is coming home!!!

Take care

Hi Marley,
Glad everything is improving for Carole. I just finished project with 18th century rook and it was much more green/khaki then what it looks like in the picture - not as green as the finished piece, but not like the sample. I also like the color and will be disappointed if it is now that much "tanner".
glad to hear she is so much better. Safe travels and have fun shopping.
I'm glad to read that Carole is ready to be released from the hospital. What good news for all of you!
What wonderful news, Marly!! I'm sure Carole will have a whole new outlook on life now that the surgery is behind her and she is feeling better and stronger :) Travel safely--glad the snow went south of you!!
I've been having trouble finding the raw/natural Belfast, too--the last piece I ordered was so much lighter it looked like flax. Very disappointing...
I was thrilled to see the header on your post; so glad that Carole is home and can start the healing process. Praying for daily progress for her and renewed joy and peace for you as well. I too have a piece of 18th Century Rook and I love it; love the dark color and it has areas that show a bit of a muted red color. We have a Whole Foods store in our area, so I want to go there and try it. Hope you enjoy your day and can have some time to pamper yourself!
Wow good news about your sister. :)
Those blues really pop on Dorothy. They are gorgeous.

Marly,
Just the best news flash!! So happy that your sister is progressing in a positive direction. As Dorothy says, "There's no place like home". I hope the recovery is a speedy one, and that you are all back to your 'normal' routines soon.
My continued good wishes for all of you.
-Sherry-
Marly, I am ever SO happy to read your great news!!! What a very long and painful ordeal this has been. I can only hope and pray the rest of the year will be only great things for you all.
As ever, your stitching is just beautiful. Sending love and continued prayers, Debbie in IL
Hi Marly, glad to hear everything is working out. Love your Dorothy Allen Sampler (who is the designer) would love to stitch it. Also on the silk gauze I have several friends that have stitched on it and they go to our framer who gets a mat board for them and cuts out the area to stitch and stretches the gauze over the cut out area and then puts tape around the gauze to hold it so they can stitch it. Wish I could send you a picture of it, I have one done for me but haven't gotten around to stitching it.
Good Wishes to you
Lily
Great to hear that Carole is doing well! Dorothy Allen is lovely. Hope you find fabric that you like. I did a consignment piece that was stitched on silk gauze. Instead of a hoop, I taped it to a mat board frame. The design I stitched was only about 4 x 4 and it worked really well being taped to the mat board.
wonderful news, you must feel so relieved
