Stinky

Greetings folks.  A little excitement yesterday created a real stink in the house.  Our new smooth top stove has burner knobs in the front which can be easily moved by Keebler hips.  The first time, it was Mark, while he was installing the backsplash in the corner near the range.  We caught it early enough to not set the pot holder on fire, only take the color off and make it very flat.
The second time was when I was priming the backsplash after moving items from that area onto the stovetop.  If I hadn't smelled the stench, I may not have turned around and things would have been worse.  The apples' plastic bag with the cardboard inside melted to the smooth surface and ignited the cardboard.  The apples cooked on one side too.  We immediately starting scraping the melted plastic with a razor blade before it could harden.  Many applications and scrubs with Affresh finally removed it all but the top isn't as black as before.  Usually, a melt such as this permanently damages the top.  We have now taken the knobs off and will only use them when we are cooking.  I also need to have someone come out and check the temps because I can't even saute onions on Low without burning.

Now, the new dishwasher is a different odor, more like Rodent Rendezvous.  Bosch, smelled terrible when we received it with inside paperwork damp (they physically test each one which is why it was wet).  After using it the odor disappeared but with only two of us, it's not run every day and that stench is back.  I have to air it by keeping a paint stick in the door so it won't close.  What I'm trying to tell you is - my house reeks right now.  Good thing I have Misi Axel's scents in my linen drawers.

And here's a tip for you.  So you're not happy with your new car's center console.  You want to see the interior of a different car that's parked in the same lot.   You can't see inside very well so you need to lean in with your hands shading your eyes and resting on the window.  Don't do it.  Just sayin'.

Oh boy...sounds like you had a very eventful day! I hate our glass top range. It's the first electric stove I've had in 44 years of marriage and I hate it!!When this one goes...I'm going back to gas. They may look nicer, and be easier to clean but they are Hell to cook on!

When I got my new car, I unlocked it, sat in the driver's seat and soon discovered it was not my car! It was identical in everyway...even the keyless entry...it unlocked their car..I was just lucky the owner didn't come out and see me!!

What interesting events that you have had of late! Glad you caught stove incidents before too much damage had occurred. Hope the rest of your week has less excitement.

We've had to get new stove and dishwasher in the last months too. We have the same problem with the dishwasher -- it's too airtight so it starts to stink since we don't run it too often. Bleagh! And the stove! Wow! Who was the idiot designer on that? Geesh! But we have a gas stove, and yet we have the same problem -- this stove seems much hotter than the old one. I asked if it was the gas but they said no. Who knows!

We had a Bosch and had to get rid of it. That smell was bad enough but then it got all slimy.inside and we used ours quite frequently. Try as we might, we couldn't get rid of the slime and eventually tossed the Bosch.
No peering into cars. Got it! LOL!

I have to remove the knobs on my stove because one of my cats turned a burner on while jumping on top of the fridge. I was sound asleep. Luckily they knocked something off the fridge. The noise woke me up. I went to investigate and found the burner on. Since then, no knobs on the stove unless in use.

No knobs on stoves--got it! My SIL has an electronic one... no knobs, just keyboard type stuff... Sounds good to me for next year when we get a new stove. Dishwasher is a waste, except at holidays... not going for it! Put those grands to work washing dishes! Thanks for the warnings! Hugs!

Oh man. We have a smooth top range also, and have set things on it in the past before we realized the area was still hot. Goodbye to scorched pot holders... I think a plastic bag was involved one time too. But, I do hate cleaning stovetops, so for that reason I still like the smooth top. Too bad about the dishwasher stink. :-(
What happened when you peered into the car? I love reading about your adventures.
