Never ending mess

Geezowhizzers.  All I did was look through the drawers and packets for linen to send to Carol's friend and now my parlor looks like Walmart after Black Friday.  Why do I not put anything back where it came from?  I think once I reach my goal of actually finding what I am looking for, I get so excited that I skip away and don't look back.  Well I went in there last night.  Because time has passed since the incident, I can't remember where the items should be kept.  A while back I worked hard to identify the count, possible color, and had each drawer organized as to such.  Some of it is back in place, but most is a question mark.  Under that pile of fabric was ..... Niky's Primitive Christmas.  Once AGAIN, I am delighted with a new chart for the second time, since I completely forgot about it.  Hence, the Santa pants.  Should be a quick stitch and cute as heck.
I've decided to work on Sally when I am recuperating next week.  No details, nothing serious (as long as I wake up), in fact, a choice not a necessity.  I greatly enlarged the motifs again and hope I can wrap them up next week.  The border later.  But anxiety has been taking a toll and after the stress of The Year of Carole, I needed something fun and simple.
Looking through the PS charts I came across a few that I may have stitched but aren't sure.  I know I didn't do the Nutcrackers because frankly, they scare me.  I'm sure I can leave off the toothy backstitches and find a few designs that are more Santa like.

These were originally stitched on Aida and I want to redo them on the 24 count fabric called for, over one, which I gave away.  When I sold the extra chart on Ebay I threw in the fabric.  But do I really want to do over one?  Nope.  If I choose a few of these I'm sure another count would work just as well.

I know I did a few of these but could find another in this series too.

Did I do Kris Kringle?  I could search the blog to find out but I am not keen on spending that much time on the computer.  I could search for the storage box and go through them but that will be Walmart after sale day all over again.

I am definitely searching for a stitching journal today (online of course) and ordering one for Christmas and one for samplers.  Years ago there were many available but I haven't seen much to my liking, if any recently.  My SIL never stitched a thing without a record of linen count, color, threads, chart name, date, and most times a photo.  It makes good sense doesn't it?

And I thought Nutcrackers were scary.  I saw a video of Steven Tyler and realized.... that's my hair!  Haven't had a cut in quite some time.  I guess I'll have to wait a few weeks now.  Who am I kidding?  Doesn't matter the length, it's straight, wavy, frizzy, curly, soft, and steel wool.  I gave up trying to control it many years ago.

Sorry if there are spelling errors.  Spellcheck died, probably after the first word of Geezowhizzers.  Hysterectobelly hasn't been included yet either and I have definitive proof of that word.

Enjoy your day.
Thanks for visiting.

Love, love all Santas. I could cover my entire house in Santas, but would be loath to put them away at the end of the season. I intend copying your method of displaying stitched Santas...never considered that method of finishing.

Love your Santas also. Just love them.

Steven Tyler: what does he think when he's looking in the mirror and he's dying/having someone dye that little strip in the front: "God, I'm so sexy," or "Jeez, I'm tired of trying to look sexy."

You are so humorous, Santa girl.... Hope the pending procedure will bring you rewarding joy. Love
the idea of the stitching journal.... No more guessing.... You are more organized than you think.... you
just happen to be multi-talented and out of the box creative. Those Santas are candy cane for the
eyes... thank you for sharing....

I hope your procedure goes well and I will be praying for your speedy recovery. After seeing that picture of Steven Tyler, I think I would be a whole lot less afraid of the nutcrackers!

I try to mark on the chart which Santas I've stitched or on a sticky note if you do not want to write on the chart. I also store my finished Santas in a clear plastic storage container so they are easy to find. I would not be good with the journal. It would end up to be pages and pages of gooblygook. Good luck with your surgery and journal search.

Your SIL had it right! I usually mark on the chart linen and such. Well, sometimes.

Love the santas!! I am working on a Mosey N Me ( which I accidentally wrote as Marly and Me haha) that has me a little irritated. Good luck next week on whatever it is - my guess is hiked up bazooms (just teasing!!)

I use an app called 'xstitch' ( light teal square with green x logo) which I really like. It has an inventory for threads, charts, and linen and a journal where you can list designer, a photo, linen used, floss colours, notes - as much or as little as you like. It has categories for 'kitted' 'started' and 'finished' and projects switch automatically into the new category as you progress and change the status. It costs less than 3 of our British pounds and I have never seen a poor review of it.

I am so, so far behind on blog reading, but I just enjoyed a nice catch-up on your last few posts, Marly. I had to laugh when I read about your nutcracker fear as I feel the same way--they are just down right creepy!! I will never stitch one, unless I change the mouth. I'll bet you can make some nice adjustments based on your other PS Santa charts and you'll have a whole new group of the handsome fellows.

Hoping that you recovery quickly next week, Marly--I'll be thinking of you! Take care now...

I have a 'graph book' journal for stitchers from yarntree.com. The price is $8.50. It's roughly 5 1/2" x 8". Half the pages are lined for notes and the other half have 10ct and 14 ct grids on them to work out ideas and designs on. I saved one section just to keep track of the pieces I finish with a quick note as to pattern/linen/thread. At some point, I want to do it digitally with a small pic added.

I better stop as I could go on about the files I've created with pics of patterns I want as well as a file for pics of patterns I've purchased because I got tired of forgetting and buying two of the same.

I purchased PS Kris Kringle because of having seen some of them on your blog at one point but don't remember which ones. And I know you did the larger Old St Knick with the white motifs on the red jacket because it went on my wish list after seeing it. I would go 2-3 years back on your blog since I don't think I've been browsing longer then that.

Best of luck with the surgery next week!

I stitched all of the Old St. Nick ones last year. Love them.. I like the Kris Kringle Santas.........not so much for the Nut Crackers.
I know you had a very traumatic year and think you should do something fun and relaxing.........in the way of Santas.
Have a Merry day !

When I finish a project, I put the info at the top of the pattern (who I made it for, when, etc.)

I'm not crazy about nutcrackers either. Love all of the Prairie Schooler Santas, though! I know medical things can be scary and I'll be thinking of you next week. Hope your recovery goes quickly.

I hope your elective surgery goes well. Hope you recover quickly. I would be stressed too. My bp goes up sky high for such things. Love all your Santa charts. They should be quick stitches, which is a good idea for a recovering person like you will be. I'll be thinking of you.
