The grapes of my wrath

Hello folks.  How's your weekend going?  Are you stitching, cooking, relaxing, gardening, or all of them?  I made spinach garlic soup.  Lower calories than a green smoothie (which I hate), good for you, and mighty tasty.  Caught a glimpse of myself from the side in a store window reflection and just about tripped over my Crocs.  Do you make a commitment to lose weight and procrastinate the start date?  For months?  I have to do something, nothing fits, and I carry my weight in one area, not evenly distributed.  Hence the soup.  I modified and simplified the one on my recipe page.

After many MANY purples, magentas, violets, reds, and mauves stitched and removed for the grapes, I gave it one more try.  Sometimes when I'm frustrated things fall into place.  It did.  I love these two shades together, 3802 and 3726.  Quite dark for this fabric but still very visible.
I've been asked about the leaf colors and can't answer most because of the no-reply, the darker shade is 3012 and the brighter is 734.  But.  I am going to stitch the next few with 733 instead, very similar but a little more toned down, just to see if it's better.  The more leaves I stitch, the more I question that color because I think the pop may be too poppy.  It's perfect under my lamp lighting but quite striking in natural light.  Once the dark roof is on, I think it will be fine.

Have a safe holiday.

Thanks for visiting.

Wow Marly, I love the colour of the fabric!!! Is it dark grey?
Can you tell me the colour and where can I buy this lovely linen?
You chosen DMC colours look great on this linen.

I'm busy too with losing weight!
Success and happy stitching!!
Your mind is by the little stitches and not by de delicious chocolate( LOL)

Loving how this is coming along. I'd probably be fussing on the leaf colors as I went, too! Sometimes, I'll pick a color I like at the salon for nail polish, and then at night/under lamplight it just makes my skin crawl!!!

I am finishing up a sampler and needed to replenish 3101 when I saw your
3802 and 3726 combination (just love it) so I just jotted down those and
your leaf suggestions as well... my simple list just got longer...lol
If you steel yourself against choco craves for a few days, you'll beat them..
that spinach/garlic dish sounds healthy and your body will thank you...
Your piece is coming along splendidly...great ground color.. you have a
unique eye...trust it...
Have a wonderful weekend...

Really love the colors! I'd gag on a green smoothie, too. I make mine with coconut milk, blueberries, rice protein powder, coconut oil, stevia, vanilla, salt, ice cubes, water. Low carb and filling. I sometimes add a tablespoon of ground flax seeds. And substitute cocoa powder for the blueberries some days. Cocoa powder is an antioxidant. Cheers!

I think the grapes look just great. Isn't it weird how something looks good under the light then when you see it in day light it doesn't look quite right. That happens to me too often!

Beautiful! You have an eye for color, which is something to treasure. I don't trust my eye for color at all, sadly. (Let's not talk about dieting, shall we? lol!)

I'll start my diet tomorrow because calories don't count on a holiday. Yes, I procrastinate, too. The older I get, the harder it gets...sigh.
Love your stitchery!!!
Happy Memorial. May God Bless this Land that I love.
Hugs :)

Looks like you got that grape color down perfectly, Marly! You really do have a wonderful eye for colors :)

Hope the soup helps fill you up! Summertime is always a tough time for trying to lose weight with all these picnic-type foods. Today we're having burgers, baked beans, deviled eggs, zesty Italian potatoes, cream cheese brownies, and Spinach-strawberry salad! Tomorrow, I'll be dieting right along with you :) Happy Memorial Day, Marly!
