Am I done or am I not

The only thing I may change is the door frame.

I'm almost ashamed to tell you, but I have no shame so here goes.  Each leaf area in 734 was removed and stitched again.  Yep.  I loved that color against this blue/gray but after all the leaves were done, it was too much.  So this is 3013 with the darker 3012.  Better.  This is very hard to photograph and I had to tone down the color, it's brighter than this appears.   Two errors, the first is in height.  I started the vine with the house bottom and it should have been up one (should be one row of the vine beneath the house).  So why is the roof in correct count to the leaf above it?  The second is in width on the right side by one stitch.  My stitches are very wonky in this piece and of course there are errors, but do they bother you?  Do you think I make good choices with your help on the colors?  I hope so.  Because once sewn, this is my birthday giveaway.  If things go wrong and it is thrown out the window, well... I guess it will be something else.  Details this week, along with a few boxes that I didn't get to yet.

I have to tell you what happened this morning.  There are only a handful of  McDonalds that offer sausage gravy and biscuits, we are lucky to have one in Hubbard Ohio.  They. are. fabulous.  Really.   In walks a man with the physique of a body builder, the V-shape of huge shoulders whittling down to tight abs.  Then we saw his hat.  It was a Navy Seal hat.  Some people get excited around celebrities, these guys are mine.  I so wanted to go shake his hand, but he never got off his phone, ate quickly and left.  But was he?  Anyone can buy the hat which to me is wrong.  We'll never know.

Have a good one!

Thanks for your help and patience with this project.

Yes, I too, have the utmost respect for our military.
Yeah! We are finally getting some much needed rain. I hope it lasts for a while.

Way to go on your finish, Marly! What color did you end up with on the roof? It looks good against your fabric. Interesting about the sausage gravy and biscuits at McD's! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Your stitching is TRULY a Winner.
How lucky for you that Macs sells biscuits and gravy...not ours, yet.
Well, he was built like a Seal.
Peace,
Barb

Marly...when I was a freshman in college one of my best friends was from Coronado, California. Her father was the commander of the naval base on the island. This is where the UDT and SEAL teams train. We made a trip to Coronado over spring break. Because her dad was the head of the base we went to several parties while we were there. Imagine being twenty years old in a room full of handsome young officers in their dress whites...asking you to dance, getting you champagne...it was very heady stuff! My friend's family lived in the officer's housing right on the water, and at night we would watch them do maneuvers in San Diego Bay. They would land their boats and come over the sea wall in all black, with faces blackened and weapons ready...practicing their landings. It was a very fun week!

There are no mistakes - only changes in the original design - your piece is lovely! Navy seal with sausage and biscuits? Not likely. But who cares? He made your morning!

You redid all the leaves? Dear me, you deserve another bag of Dove!

All your work (and rework) on this piece has resulted in a stunning finish - just beautiful!

If you didn't point out the flaws none of us would be able find them. This piece is beautiful.

Hard to imagine a real SEAL advertising it for all the obvious reasons but hey, anything is possible. Love your work.

I do admire how you always know and honor your color preferences and never hesitate to tear out and re-stitch.

Awesome. I like that you are not afraid to change colors and add your own "tweaks" to make a project your own. I sure do enjoy reading your posts!

It looks great. I liked what you did with the leaves the first time but I like this even better. The light color helps frame the house. I do look forward to your post. Have a nice day. Nancy P.

Marly,it looks great! There was a day when Navy Seals never advertised. Their missions and even the fact that they were in the Seals was private. Just saying...

Marly, love everything about your stitchery! You did a fabulous job with the colors, and you must have the patience of a saint to take stitches out if the color isn't right. I'd probably throw the piece aside and never look at it again!

Love how it turned out! I'm partial to all military. I was an Army Brat (still a brat) and I'm retired Air Force.

I love how this turned out, Marly! I have removed more stitches in my current SAL block than are in the entire block, so I completely understand. Mary said what I was kind of thinking... I didn't think seals or special ops guys advertised what they were but maybe times have changed.

Love your stitched piece; it really is pretty! I am with you about the feelings that happen when you see someone in the military. Such honor to them!

You did it! Marly, really--your search for colors that worked so well on this pretty fabric was worth all your hard work. Such a lovely finish--I like it so much better on this darker fabric. Will have to think about stitching it myself. It will make someone very happy when you offer it for your birthday giveaway :)

Your finish is beautiful, and to think after all that work and agony you can bear to gift it?! Wow. And now I have to go to McD's for breakfast to see if we have the sausage and gravy biscuits. My favorite breakfast is Bob Evans sausage gravy stuffers (in a biscuit) straight from my grocer's freezer to my microwave. :o)

I think it's perfect! You are so good at color stuff. I wish I could say the same. I would never have dared to go for the dark linen -- love how it came out!
