The chart, the fall, the luck

Greetings to all.  But not to July.  Slow down!

First off, I want to pass on the chart that Frances was nice enough to send me, paying it forward.  It's Lydia  C. Durgin from Elizabeth's Garden.

I did not stitch the 4-sided border as charted, just did the regular cross stitch, and changed DMC 646 to DMC 3011.  I think reds, lavender, mustard, just about any color can be substituted.  The top band is all I need for a finish and I though the weekend would be the best time for everyone to see the offer.  Please email me - samplersandsantas@gmail.com if you would like to be included in the drawing Monday evening at 9pm.  Sometimes comments are not specific and I'm not sure if it's a comment or an entry so emails are better.

I won't be doing much this weekend since I had another bad fall.  But luck was with me.  We were coming out of a locally owned hardware store and I slipped in a slurry of what looked like wet concrete.  This is under a roof and I think their cement bags had leaked, mixed with dripping water from the roof right in front of the parking lot and our car.  The first ankle twisted sideways and then the other slipped opposite as I tried to stop the fall.
I don't think there are any breaks but I can't twist or move my left foot much.  It's still cool so I had long jeans on which were covered in the cement, and only a few scrapes and cuts through my top. The luck part?  My head missed the 8" cement column holding up the roof by 1/2".  It was against my cheek when I tried to get up, after I destroyed the downspout attached to its side.  Yikes.  That would have been an ugly sound.   So I am wrapped, iced, and chewing Advils which so far, have done nothing.  Methinks tomorrow will be a bad day.  But I am still here to moan which is a good day.

I planned on taking a drive tomorrow to find boxes since there are none at Pat Catan's here.  Mark will help me so I may still get out and try to find them, including what I need for the corner squares.  Thanks for the input and sources.  Never knew there were charts for the tiny bags to hold them.  So stinkin' cute.

Have a great weekend, be safe!
Don't forget to email if you want the chart- HERE.

Oh, Marly--that fall sounds awful! At least stitching is something you can do while sitting and resting your legs. Hope you heal quickly!

Enjoy your weekend...

Good Grief Marly, this is not the kind of 'bang' to start the July 4th. with. I am so sorry but from the sounds of it glad it wasn't any worse. Be kind to you, elevate and ice!!! Debbie in IL

Marly My Dear: So sad to see you have to recover on a holiday week-end, I hope you are doing better as the days go on.
Love the Sampler but I think I need to finish what I have so will not enter the drawing, you are such a sweet Lady to pass it along.
Happy Fourth

Blessings

Whatever you had planned to do can wait until your ankles heal. Thank goodness you didn't hit your head. There should have been some kind of warning about the wet concrete.
I hope your injuries will heal quickly. I think swinging in your swing and enjoying your flowers this weekend sounds like a plan to me......for you !
Thinking of you.

Oh, Marly! What an awful fall! Glad you didn't hit your head, but still. Keep up with the ice and Advil, but go see the doctor if you need to. Hugs.

Oh, Marly, *both* ankles? Sounds like a horrible fall! The others are right, I think - boxes can wait till you're not in pain. Suggested recipe for weekend = Advil, ice, those little Dove bites, and something engrossing to watch/read/stitch depending on your mood. Speedy healing to you!

well crap...please don't hesitate to get them x rayed if the pain keeps up...you have no idea how many patients I see who walked/hobbled on broken feet/ankles/lower legs for days...even a broken hip...okay...nagging done...I saw some boxes at Joanns the other day...in a weird spot...up by the seasonal items

I vote for x-ray ASAP. Sounds terrible and, oh by the way, I sincerely hope you spoke to the store manager/owner about their culpability in leaving this mess for you to slip into in the first place. Have a restful weekend and keep those feet up!

I'm so sorry about your fall. We have something in common. When I fell last Fall and smashed my L1 vertebrae, my head was an inch from a huge rock. I can't imagine what that rock would have done to my head!! I guess we are both lucky. Just take good card of yourself!

Ouch..but glad you are not nursing a head injury too. Hope u heal quickly and enjoy our holiday weekend.

You really need to stay off those ankles for a day or two. Boxes can wait, can't they?
Take good care of yourself. And, don't step in anymore slurry. It isn't good for you.

Oh no, Marly. What a lousy way to start the week-end. Feel better soon! And slow down - my last fall turned out to be a fracture. We don't always bounce, you know lol!

What a nasty fall! You were so lucky you didn't hit your head. You may be laid up, but your feet and toenails look so cute!

Dang!! Falling is never a good thing, but both ankles pretty much tells you that you should stay home for a bit! If it is still quite painful on Tuesday, go to the doctor! And I am with Debbie H. about telling the store what happened... soft Hugs!

I think you need to get an X-ray. I fell about a year ago and it was not broken but was sprained. The dr. prescribed a splint (?) for the ankle. I was able to go to Australia 10 days later but did bring a cane and wore the splint for protection. When I got back home, I went for PT and that helped a lot. No problems now and would never know that I sprained it.
Take car,
Charlotte
