This reproduction is very basic. The same alphabet we have stitched over and over until we no longer need to check the chart. The bottom section's letters are slightly different. Still haven't decided if the dividing bands will be light thread, red thread, or no thread. I just hope I can finish it because the mojo is almost completely gone. Strange how we turn away from things we have loved for so long. Sometimes a break is beneficial, sometimes it's a death knell. My longest was after the shops closed, my stitching friends passed, and there was no online shopping or browsing back then. All sources and inspiration were gone. Years later, I started seeing sampler photos on photo sites, and SamplerFarm's page of Carol's work pulled me back in. Online sources were not as plentiful as today, but eventually I learned how to locate charts and supplies. Several years passed before I started blogging in February 2011 hoping it would be the final push I needed.
I am glad that I chose a small piece as this instead of the Ann Spence or another big girl. That would have been it! When the back is much better and I am in a comfortable stitching position, I'm hoping the needle bug will return.
Thanks for visiting.

Marly, I like your red sampler. It is looking good. I vote for no dividing bands. I hope your back is feeling a bit better.
Have been checking on you...........Hoping you're feeling better.
Maybe a different kind of hobby would help ? I haven't been stitching either. Can't get enthused.........maybe by Halloween.
Take care and enjoy any beautiful weather we/you have.

Hope you're back is better. I have been experimenting with stitching standing up while using Judy Odell's floor stand which I put on anything 2 ft. high. Stitching standing up has cured my back and neck tension from stitching and I almost never make mistakes now since I feel more alert. I also can stitch for much, much longer periods of time which is bringing back the enthusiasm (mania). You could also use a lap stand like K's Creations on a counter top or something that height. Or rig any stand! Take care, love your blog....Robyn
Hope the "on all fronts" means your pain is ebbing. Still thinking of you and glad to see your post!
When you feel so bad, it is hard to be enthused about much of anything. You have made a good start on a pretty sampler. Just take care and give yourself a break!
When you are hurting it's hard to get excited about anything so don't be so hard on yourself. I have discovered another hobby (Wool Applique) and it's taken over a lot of my stitching time lately. Oh well as the temps rise I'll not want the hot wool in my lap so things should change again any time.
Take care of yourself!
It's okay to take a break to get the "mojo" back. It's garden time and you'll soon feel better and be outside in the sunny Springtime weather. Take care!
bonjour, hello
what does mean "crabass"?
THANKS Brigitte
Well now, don't you and Missy make quite the pair. I am hoping your back is slowly improving. I am praying for you.
Marly, in my opinion, your stitching is actually art and you are the consummate artist. Your ability to seek out just the right colors, pattern adjustments, backings etc. is beyond what is just hobby. The artists that I have known all go through periods of doubt, frustration, walking away from their craft, and sometimes giving it up. But most it seems, like you, find the process of doing the craft a challenge that is worth the effort somehow. So, I encourage you to give your artistic side the space to breathe and let whatever inspires it to happen. Yes, you can just shove it all in the closet, but somehow that artistic part of you is going to drag it out again because working on a project is what feeds that part of you that has such an eye for detail and knows how to create a piece that is the best it can be. Being an artist like yourself is just part of being you.
This new piece is looking like another winner in progress! I hope your back is getting better each day.
its looking so lovely dear.
love and smiles x
For someone with no mojo, you sure get a lot done!
Brigitte's comment cracked me up!
