That damn finger

Greetings folks.  Hope all is well with you and yours.
The condition I have on all my finger's first joints is called Heberden's Nodes.  I don't know the criterion for removal, but immobility and pain sound like good ones to me.

Not stitching, but thinking about more miniatures for the feather tree.
As soon as I decide on colors...

I feel for you Marly. Literally. This runs in my family. I am not looking forward to getting this either. :(

At least you have a diagnosis. Hope they can provide some kind of treatment to give you relief.

There must be some kind of treatment that allows you to stitch. You are in my thoughts.

Sorry about the finger but typically surgery for that is a last resort with marginal results. NSAIDS, heat/ice, analgesic cream and range of motion exercises may help. Usually, once the inflammation goes down it will probably feel better

Marly, I had surgery a few years ago to correct a Heberden node on my right hand. Osteoarthritis was inherited from my grandmother. The orthopedic surgeon made an incision on the top of the finger just below my fingernail and it extended almost to the second joint. He chiseled out the boney growth and put a pin in my finger. The first joint was fused and won't bend. The post op pain was not fun but didn't last too long. The end result is no pain in the joint and I can still stitch! Also,it didn't cause any damage to the nail bed so my fingernail is fine. The scar is minimal and looks a lot better than my gnarly finger did. Good luck, what ever your decision. Janet (TNladybug)

Pain of any kind is not good. So sorry your finger is acting up. I hope it can be corrected without a lot of difficulty.
Thinking of you.

Never heard of these, but in reading about them just now, it sounds like what my mom deals with, too. So sorry, Marly--I can imagine how much you must miss stitching.
