WOODY!!!!

That damn bird is now trying to nest in our mailbox!  We need to find a metal plate for the side, he is almost completely through.  But will that stop Woody Wood****er?  Probably not because he is tearing it up on all sides including the door.

We have sun this morning, blustery winds, and wet leaves covering the yard.  I pounded a long piece of rebar well into the ground and slid the cornstalks over to secure them.  The high winds bent the tops on one but the stalks themselves stayed upright.

You may be growing weary of Mr. Blue by now, but Linda Mckenzie's finishing method for him is something I never thought of, and a great idea for holiday displays.  Hers is on 35/36 count, nice tight coverage.  I asked her if it was OK to share her finish and she gave permission.  The fabric colors are perfect!  I do prefer this darker blue as Lori intended but will continue on with my lighter version.  It will give me something more to crab about later and we must feed the crab.  But there is plenty of food right now and I really really like the darker blue.  Really.
I've already had some frogging on him because I don't pay attention to the chart when there is fill work.  So I stitched the outline which I should have done before, and now I don't have to worry about those errors.

Have a good day!

Thanks for visiting.

By the way, we had a very persistent woodpecker once....nothing would stop that lil pecker! What truly baffled us was that we lived in a wetland area, lots of trees everywhere! Why annoy us? Why ruin our house? Just never got it. Good luck with your’s.

Great outdoor decorations. Love the finish on the cross stitched piece. You are making good progress on your project. We have had our first snow for the season; cold and blustery winds outside. As usual for this time of year; always first snow before Halloween.

Thanks for sharing Linda's finish! You have made progress on yours. Glad your cornstalks remained upright. Enjoy your week, Marly!

Ohhh, Love the finish Linda did on her's. I do believe I like the darker blue too. This pattern is growing on me. Not that I need anymore. I love Fall. Maybe if we ever get moved to Post Falls, Idaho, I can enjoy the same weather you have in PA.

I don't know, I think with the right fabric your lighter blue will look just fine. I look forward to seeing how you finish it. It seem like that pesky frog is paying both of us a visit.

That's a great finish on the piece by Linda...I like both shades of blue but prefer your lighter one...you know I love this weather but I'd love to have had a little more fall! seeing this design makes me think I need to hook a Santa...

I know this may sound a bit wack-a-doodle but go to the dollar store, get a cheap rubber toy snake and drape it over your mailbox. I had to do this one spring when a robin decided my window ledge was it's new nesting spot. Oddly enough it worked!

oOo! I like Linda's finish! There has to be something you can smear on the mailbox isn't there?!

We have had many problems with the woodies of the world. They can do some serious damage!! I love the Santa. You are right, that is a wonderful finish.

It looks like your woodpecker has found a new favorite spot to visit!!! Good luck with that!
Your outdoor decorations are beautiful! So pretty!
I like the finishing on that Santa--would not have thought to do it that way, but it's pretty! Yours will be lovely, as always. I like the colors you've chosen!

Oh Marly your so lucky that bird is just after your MAILBOX! One is making a huge mess on my HOUSE. Every darn corner and one trim board has multiple holes... all the way to the black paper on most of them. I don't know how I'm gonna fill them to look good again. My siding is painted cedar shakes. I'm going to try the fake snake as The Inspired Sticher mentioned above. Sure hope they aren't all sold out for Halloween. Cheryl
