I've looked through charts, handled my linen, almost started a large sampler, but my mind is elsewhere and relaxing is not possible. I don't really miss the needle at all. Whether I will start stitching again at some point, only time will tell. It could even be tomorrow, but that will depend on how soon I can settle myself.
I actually considered this one for a few days, simple and uncomplicated letters, until I realized the freehand border may be a threat to my sanity (or what's left of it). Maybe work on the easy body and leave the border for another time? Scarlet Letter's Mary Elliott.

My sister is very upset about her friend's adult addict son. He can't afford the ACA insurance, would qualify for a subsidy for his family of five, but cannot afford the massive deductibles. She is afraid he will die. Did this start with prescriptions? No it did not. There is no where that offers free help, regardless of their ads making you think they will. He's checked everywhere and payment may be lowered without coverage, but still not affordable. I should have him talk to my friend's friend who paid $80000 cash for a house and vacations in Dubai for tips on how she stays on Medicaid for free.

Oh that little sleepy face is so cute. I know what you mean about dumping stuff these days - I have so much stitching stuff that cost thousands of pounds and no one wants it and it's too expensive to mail to people.
I realize shipping costs are high. I have used the flat rate boxes the post office offers & you would be amazed how much you can save shipping things that way. I keep filling the box to the top as I have things. When it is full I ship it off to one of my sons. I love using them.

I am on a massive clean out! I don't know how long it will last, but I'm trying to take advantage of dumping any and every think while I feel like doing it! I have too much clutter! I am toying with the idea of getting an organizer in to help with storage. I think I will get her to do the kitchen first.....everything is contained, but so sloppy. If I like what she does, we will take it a room at a time. Oh my-the thought of this!!!!
That flat rate might be the solution...there are many out there who might want those
magazines and be willing to cover that postage . Love the tail chaser and your comments. Sad about your Sister's Friend's dilemma.. but all too prevalent in our world today... hope solution can be found for them. Love the Scarlet Letter sampler.. You might enjoy tackling the interior alphabets and then deciding on the border later... knowing you, you will create something unique.
I've found that the best and quickest way of getting rid of stacks of magazines is to put an ad on Craigslist. Each time I've offered them I've had so many calls so quickly I've had to pull the ad in a matter of hours. I offered them free to a good home and had them picked up within hours, usually by school teachers who use them in projects. Not sure if that would work for you but an idea in case you'd like another option. T
Our local library let's us drop magazines in a box for exchange so I use it all the time. Hubby and I are both magazine junkies so I always have at least 10 to 15 to drop off every month and I don't take any from the box!
Before you recycle those magazines, you might ask your local library if they want them. My library is happy to take magazines. Sometimes they make them part of their collection, and if they already have them, they sell them. They have quarterly sales of donated books and magazines. Also, if you remove identifying labels, our county jail is happy to take magazines. It gives the inmates something to read. Freecycle is another route. Our local freecycle has provided homes for many things like unwanted magazines, books, household items, etc.

I have a stack of the same magazines. Started looking at them again over the weekend.
A few years ago, I got rid of/dumped my Country Living magazines. Almost made me cry. Just didn't have the space to keep them Now I wish I had them to look over again.
Not doing any stitching here either. Don't want to sit still long enough. Maybe
if I get a rainy day or two.

Not sure if your library would want the magazines either, Marly. Mine won't take older issues (although people still drop them off in the book return only to have us throw them out!). I just recycled a ton of old Martha Stewart magazines when I realized that you can find so many amazing recipes and ideas online and on Pinterest, Instagram, etc. that I no longer needed to hold on to them. What a freeing experience :)
Ugh--the fraud taking place in our welfare/Medicaid/insurance plans disgusts me! Trips to Dubai and on Medicaid. Yeah, something is wrong with that picture.
Shipping costs are outrageous unless you use a flat rate box. It costs $3.50 minimum to mail anything if it is over 1/4" thick, even if it weighs half an ounce!
I'm sure your stitching mojo will return. Even when you don't have it, you accomplish so much.
Marly: Oh my, there has to be someone who can help, do you have a community action department in your county, they may be able to help him.
I love the Sampler it is a beauty, I do hope you stitch it, I would love to follow your progress.
My cousin gets SSI 1800.00 a month, and she is wealthy I cannot figure that one out I dislike her for it she faked a bad back the ssi people fell for it hook line and sinker.
The magazines would qualify for media shipping which is a lot less money.

I could see that border being a pain to stitch. I like when borders are repetitive. I never get how some people manage to get away with everything while other just can't catch a break. I hope there is help out there for Carole's friend's son.
I’ve used Media Rates to ship books and magazines and that is the absolute lowest.
