Needlework will show itself off without distraction of dark colors on windows and moulding.

Her new look is pure white. Decorating austere or sparse is very difficult and I think all white is even harder. If the pieces aren't correct, it just looks like white paint and the theme is lost. Phoebe's talent for decorating is unique and there is no way I could pull it off, not all white. If you like that look, farmhouse, sparse, check out her Pinterest albums. https://www.pinterest.com/phoebetroyer/
I may be mistaken but it appears many photos I remember of the house before white are no longer shown. If you have a favorite pinner that showcases this style, dare I say, show me!! Like I need more photos to contribute to my confusion.
Have a great weekend.

I am heading that direction too...owning and creating so many colorful pieces I long for the white background...
Those photos are beyond gorgeous. The style would not work for me, but I love to see the look!
I'm not sure why, but from my desktop I am unable to leave a comment on your blog. It's the only blog I am having trouble with, but it's not an issue on the iPad. Go figure.
You find the most beautiful houses in Pinterest. I still refuse to go there. Even in retirement there are not enough hours in the day...sigh.
Happy Saturday!
She is definitely the best at austere. I loved her home before and even enjoy it now - but I need more stuff and more color. I think some of the old pics are gone. I used to go back and look at them.
There are too many choices out there for paint and everything else. Good luck with your decision making.
The all white can be very effective but when you have a DH that comes in from the yard and sits where ever he sees fit, I would be washing slip covers all the time!!
Do you have any idea what the cream color is? I love it! Very soothing. Can't wait to se what you do. Maybe you will make me brave too.
Thank you for the link...I have never seen her pinterest page before. I love her all white look with her accents. I'm redoing my home as well in all white, except for my upholstered furniture and some of my primitive pieces. I love it!! And I really like that she has a very minimal way of decorating...so much easier!
I love Phoebe's home and I'm sure I'll love yours when all is finished.
Thank you for the BD greeting for my son.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Every summer I pull out my white slipcovers that transform my colonial living room to a much lighter space. I love my dark mahogany and cherry furniture juxtaposed against the white duck covers on my camelback sofa and wing chairs. More and more I am leaning toward this lighter look...but punched up with bits of color...my redware and folk art. I'm thinking about replacing the camelback sofa in the family room with...the ubiquitous Pottery Barn white couch...and filling the room with colorful antique and contemporary folk art! I'm almost there!
Good luck! Your lovely home, no doubt, will look wonderful whatever you decide!
