This was the offer (Ebay photo). If DMC 501 is used, I'm all in, and that's exactly what this looks like to me. I had no trouble determining the other colors but I will use one shade of gold instead of two, and a brighter red like 355 (this looks like 814 which I do not like). Because the linen appears to be a looser weave, I plan to pull 28 count. It would be very nice on a high count but I want to recreate the look of this and part of the appeal is the coarse fabric and aging.
Reminds me of one of my favorites, Dorothy Allen from R&R, haven't figured size yet but it may be similar.
That's it! The sun is out today, very windy. Since we could not get anyone to cement our front area where the natural stones were removed, we've added a full length step to the front and Jason will be installing pavers. Not happy. There is no way to match man made color to natural stone and they all have way too much orangey reddish tones (even though they are gray), but I have no choice. It is what it is! Hopefully he will be out Friday or Monday and Dominic is delivering the cabinets then also. Guess who still can't decide on the white for that room? Yep.
Have a good one!!

I am VERY interested to hear everyone's answer on this one. I have wondered about this myself. It is cold, cloudy and windy here.
GMTA? In my all-ready-to-stitch bag, I have the same type of thing - I snagged photo of antique sampler on ebay and charted it. Interested to hear what others say. I believe whoever bought the sampler is the one with the rights to chart a reproduction...?
I assume to boys returned home safe and sound finally? Couldn't you just scream? But that's a cat for ya. IMHO, if the design is indeed an antique, then you can certainly copy it or use it for inspiration. Just like antique quilts! I love it when an antique quilt is copied. I don't have any problem with this since there's no copyright infringement.
I think you received inspiration for a new creation from the picture you saw. What's wrong with that? You're not going to sell it or market it - you're going to enjoy it in your own home. Go for it!
And as far as the new step - weather will age it and soon they will snuggle together nicely.
I do not know the copy right laws about this, it is probably wrong to do this. That being said you are only using this as an inspiration it will not be exact right? So stitch away.
Designers do it all the time. Reproduce an old sampler and they sell the pattern. You just are doing it for yourself...or you could share/sell the pattern after we all fall in love with what you did with it.
