November

November 1.  And I am already tired of seeing "black Friday" in ads.  Countdown to Christmas movies will be boring and stale by December.  Why start them so early?

It has rained and rained and rained and will continue. The brats have decided it's too wet and returned to their inside room.  I can pet Bud, he will sleep on my lap, but the other two are still as untouchable as ever.  I do not think it will ever change.

My sister failed to trap a long haired calico this summer so along with her two adorable kits, she is ready to pop another litter.  There's a separate major issue brewing at her house and she is not happy with the side I am taking.  Not a good time for this as we wait for her 5 year old great grandchild's biopsy results.

It took a while but the ceiling paint around the beams is cut in and ready to roll, walls too.  I have read that when using a shade of white on the walls, a similar but different white should be used on trim.  But I can't find one that isn't too yellow or too gray so I'm not following that advice.  Everything will be one.  I chose Valspar's Rare and Radiant shade of white, mixed by Behr who has the formula.  Leaving the darkside, heading toward the light.

My cabinets were to be finished over a week ago and I haven't heard a word from Dominic.  Hope he isn't having a family crisis.

Every time I go into Walmart, our one remaining store, I can just smack the lips off of some mothers.  This time, a several month old baby was beet red and crying as she held him horizontal at her hip as if he were a clutch.  He was crying so hard he could barely breathe.  My 15 minutes of fame may come one day under a headline, "mouthy elderly shopper attacked by useless idiot of a mother".

Hope you all have a great weekend.

I agree people rush the Christmas season! December 1 is time enough to start decorating. When I had small Grandchildren we would put lights on a tree out back and they would patient wait on Thanksgiving night after dinner for the lights to automatically turn on, that was fun and the only decorating before December done. I do start shopping early and am long finished by Thanksgiving so I can enjoy the rest of December without going crazy. Sorry for more feral cats being born, the poor things.

I'm with the kitties, Marly--I'd come in out of the rain, too. Hasn't it been the worst--day after day of gray, rain, and gloom. I'm ready to move--want to come along?

I recommend the book, "Forever Christmas" to set the Tasha Tudor mood for observing Christmas. Simple, natural, unfettered and so meaningful. We have become
so "glitzy", commercial and multi-tasked in doing the holidays and Family is lost in the discarded wrappings and stress... Old Family traditions when life was simpler still work to make cherished memories. The plethora of catalogues that dictate the style of Christmas should be viewed with discretion.... just saying...
I think you have discovered that essential spirit, Marly.

Makes me happy that Budman will lay in your lap. Wish Missy would too.
I'm downsizing quite a bit this year. Have taken sooooo many things to a consignment shop. Did very well with Fall/Halloween items. Have put most of my "Fall" things away and don't even want to think about decorating for Christmas. As my "kids" get older the decorations don't mean the same.
Sorry about your family situation. Hope everything will "simmer" down soon.
Hugs and prayers,
Charlotte in Va.

Your sweet furry friend has the right idea - all the rain we've had makes me want to curl up somewhere and hibernate until the sun (and warmth) return. I'm not sure I understand the rush to Christmas. Just seems everyone is in a big hurry these days. I'm sorry to hear about your sister's great-grandchild. I hope everything will be okay.

I am so with you! No Christmas here till after Thanksgiving!!!! We were in a froyo place the other day and there was a mom and a cute little boy around 4. She never spoke one word to him. She sat and played with her phone, I mean not 1 word!!! I kept checking. We may be sharing a jail cell!

I always try to tell myself not to judge parents while out -- who knows what's going on in their lives. extenuating circumstances and such. But I admit it -- I don't usually succeed. I'm with you and just have to hold myself back.....

I can't believe Thanksgiving is in 2 1/2 weeks. How can this be? Yes, too many black Friday sales already. ARGH!
Today is the nicest day we've had in weeks. I've crossed a few outdoor tasks off the list but there are plenty more and really should mow.
Prayers for your sister's great grand.

Personally i would prefer the Black Friday ads as compared to the Political Campaign ads- they NEVER stop!

Love your shade of 'light', Marly !
I need to do the same and am also contemplating doing the woodwork the same shade as the walls.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any Black Friday ads because the only ads running here are the political ones. Prayers for you and your family.
