They are finding correlations between auto immune diseases, or flare ups of autoimmune diseases, after various vaccinations (Hepatitis, Influenza and others). My cousin's wife has a PhD in pharmacology and I consulted her on these articles. It has to do with T cell/B cell something or other that can cause these disorders when the immune system processes the vaccines for antibodies. Or something like that. These are very small percentages overall, and should not be a valid reason for not taking the shot because the flu can be deadly to some. But it is something I never knew.
Sjogren's rarely goes into remission, and once the salivary glands are damaged, especially in a case as severe as mine, they do not recover. So no, the doctors do not believe my condition will ever change, and it may get worse. I use Biotene gel which works better than the mouthwash, ACT lozenges every half hour, eye drops every half hour. And as requested by a few of you, I won't mention it again.
If anyone is looking for a new cookie to try, these are one of my favorites.
SOUR CREAM JUMBLES
2 stick butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
4 cups flour
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
pinch of salt
Mix together as you would a cake batter (beat sugar and margarine first). Batter will be loose. Chill in fridge at least several hours or overnight. Make a ball about the size of a walnut, roll in powdered sugar, bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Cookies will be light in color.

Marly: I am so sorry you are going through, you would think they can transplant a heart but cannot get rid of a cold or other things like what you are going through.
It does not bother me if you talk about the sjogrens.
Thank-you for the cookie recipe.

Oh No! I am so sorry you are going through this...as for those not interested they can scroll past your blog...hugs
Hey. It's YOUR blog. If people don't like what you are blogging about, they don't have to read it!!!
So sorry you are going through this. You post whatever you have
on your heart! It’s your blog!
Marly, so sorry you are dealing with this chronic condition. I am not bothered by you talking about the Sjogrens, I have learned a lot. I got a flu shot and 4 days later a TD booster in 10/17, next thing hands got bad dermatitis that turned into a eczema all over. Then got a flu shot 10/18 and by that night itching all over. I think after repeated exposures you have a perfect storm and immune system wacks out. Hang in there, so enjoy your blog and pearls of wisdom.
I agree that you have every right to blog about anything that you would like, especially when you are really trying to help people. Thanks for your concern for all of us.I hope the Drs. are wrong and you do get better!!
Ok....my blood just started boiling. How dare anyone ask you to not “mention” it again??? I’d not-so-politely ask them to not “read my blog again”!! What happened to freedom of speech???? Especially on your own “turf”??? Anywho.... It just isn’t right that you have to live with such suffering...and from something that was supposed to be beneficial to you. It certainly makes me suspicious of having a flu shot (since, yeah, I am one of those that end up in the “few percentages” in all the bad ways)....but I need to because the meds I take suppress my immune system...and, even before that, I always caught everything. I certainly will be more cognizant of how I am feeling and whether I’ve been on antibiotics recently, though, when I get them in the future.... (Ok.... IF I remember....and that IF should be in 24 point font....). Hoping the prescription at least gives you some relief for the eyes.... The tongue...well, that just plain out hurts even reading about it. Hugs ~ Robin
I am so sorry this has happened to you. You really are providing a service to the people who read your blog even if they don’t realize it. As you said you did not know to not receive a live vaccine. If it is given thru the nasal spray it is usually a live vaccine. My doctors informed me of all of this. Even the shingles shot comes in 2 forms. The nasal and the newer shot. If you have an autoimmune disease you should never receive a live vaccine. My veterinarian even has in my dogs records that they cannot receive any shots in a nasal spray because we should not be exposed to it. Please continue to post whatever you like, you are so interesting and I love how you care for your family and I enjoy your sense of humor!! Hugs,
I won't speak about people who ask you to not “mention” it again... Got those kind of people following me, I tried to focus on what they expected, and finally they stopped reading me...hahaha
Your blog is on my top list, I'm always excited by a new post because I know I'll be entertained, and/or learn something. I've always LOVE blogs where you can share daily life of people, it's instructive, it puts things under new perspective, etc..
You probably saved me huge troubles, because a local doc told me I should try the spray next year. She knows I have a bunch of health troubles, including some unidentified sinus never ending ones (and a very poor immune system), so thanks to you I'm going to avoid many new problems that I really don't need to face. So on my side, it's a big "thank you" and a "please pretty please keep on telling whatever YOU want" because who knows how many people can get benefits from it ?!
I'm so sad there is nothing to cure your troubles, I just hope you can get some relief...

Don't ever stop posting what you want to, believe in, enjoy, don't enjoy, "whatever" !
Wish there was something that would help your health situation.
Thank you for the cookie recipe. LOVE cookies !
Enjoy the weekend.

I %100 with all the above comments. I read your blog for ALL the things you write about not just stitching. Bullying is not happening just on the playground adults are just as quilty!!!
It breaks my heart what you are now going through with Sjogren's. I agree with the above supportive comments. We read your blog because you are such a strong woman who 'keeps it real' if others don't like it stuff 'em. Hang in there, Marly.
Marly, as others have said, your blog~your world so share away. I always, always learn something from you. Plus sometimes a person just has to vent. Folks can choose to not read.
Thanks for the cookie recipe. I will be giving these a try!
Take care
Add my name to your list of readers who look forward to reading ANYTHING you post. I know I have already stated it but you and Coni and now Robin bring me such joy and laughter along with heart felt sorrow. Thank you for taking time out of your day to fill us all in.
Marly, I agree with everything others have commented. I read your blog because I enjoy your stitching, your sense of humor and how you handle difficult situations. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this and I do hope it improves. I'll be more conscious of my health when I go for the next flu shot. You post about anything your heart desires.

I can't believe anyone would ask you not to talk about something. You don't listen to those few, I am like those who have already commented enjoy what you write. When you are writing about hard times or medical problems and you handle it with such grace and humor it helps me to deal with my problems. So you keep it up. You give me such a wonderful example of how to deal with things that life throws at you.
As my kids would say - YOU ROCK!
This is your blog, for your comments and views. You write about whatever you want to write about, and if someone else doesn't want to read it, that's their choice.
Please don't stop posting about this! So far, I haven't had issues with flu vaccine, but after my sister's issues and now reading about your issues, I will be asking if barely live or totally dead virus is used from now on. And not getting any vaccine if I've been sick or on antibiotics for any reason recently. And if any problems arise, I'll know to raise hell at doctor sooner than later if they don't take me seriously.
Besides, even if I didn't learn anything, it's your blog so write what you wish. I'm adult enough to move on if it's something that doesn't interest me.
Thanks for the cookie recipe - it sounds yummy...
Marly dear... There has never been a hint of woe is me in your comments regarding Sjogrens, but a sincere desire to enlighten, and evidently most are grateful for it.
The others? They can re-stick their heads in the sand and leave us to learning. I
pray your prognosis will be altered by mistaken diagnosis or some new discovery in treatment. You are very dear to us. Thanking your generous heart for that cookie recipe.
Hi sweetie! My husband has it and it is not fun. Keep up the good work informing us about your journey so that we all can learn and have empathy for those who suffer from debilitating disorders. Autoimmune problems go unseen in most people and can have life changing effects.
Abundantly Blessed

Marly please keep posting anything your heart desires, your blog! I never knew about not having the live vacine and I have Hashimoto ( low thyroid) which is also an autoimune disease, now I know. I never heard of Sjogrens and have learned a lot. Most people don't understand how debilitating autoimmune diseases can be, because they "see" anything wrong. I hope you can find something that will releave your symptoms.

It's your blog to write about what you want. People who don't want to read it can blog on by. I have learned much, from both your comments and those of others going through something similar. I'm sorry you are going through this condition, and have to also endure comments from people who feel the need to ask you to change the subject. My mother would have called that "a lot of gall."
