Hugs

Hey.  What up?  My very young dentist's friends stopped in the office (while my dried out mouth was gaping), and all I heard was "what up".  I thought sup (short for what's up) was the common greeting among people 40 years younger than me.

I recently saw a post from a stitcher who used spool huggers to hold her excess fabric and I thought it looked like a great idea.  This sampler is very large on the 30 count linen and since I don't use a hoop, I've been wondering how I plan to handle the bulky piece of linen.  I have a smaller sit-on hoop that I really like (not for a project this size), and a K's Creations scroll frame that I don't know how to use.  Not sure I even want to because I have always stitched with the linen rolled in my hand.  I've used very large safety pins before and the floss would catch on each and every one at some point.  So I ordered a set of 14 spool huggers from Amazon to try, lightweight and flexible, may be the solution.  Anyone use them for hugging their linen?

I cross stitch like you do Marly, with the linen rolled up in my hand. Those spool huggers look interesting, hope they work out well. Please give us an update! And as always, I got a chuckle out of your post. I can just see your dry gaping mouth now! Hope your eyes continue to improve, have an enjoyable week!

Never heard of spool huggers, but you know I live under a rock.
I cannot imagine stitching without a hoop, but then again, I don't do the sewing method...hence am super slow!!!

Ordered the spool huggers....worth a try for the linen roll...and a great
gadget for spools anyway... Hope your eyes are coming along as you had hoped.
That you have set about stitching once again is a blessings... May your animal
kingdom and its care provider be blessed.

I'll be interested to hear how these work out, Marly. I stitch in hand, too and for larger projects the struggle with the excess fabric is real! Let us know :)

I received a package of these in my quilting subscription box and knew I'd never use them for what they were intended for. Now I see stitchers using them and I may have to try it with my stitching.

I saw these for the first time on a video done at The Attic last month and thought it was a great idea for holding that extra linen. Yesterday, as my ball of perle thread kept falling and unravelling, I realized these might also be great for what they were actually intended for, lol! Please do let us know how you like them.

Sup, Marly? ;-)

I use a Qsnap because I like how it keeps the fabric really tight. I used to stitch in hand. I've been curious to use these spool huggers with my Qsnap. The other thing that works for me is a grime guard with the Qsnap. I tuck the extra fabric inside the grime guard.

i am wondering if one of these huggers would secure the cord to the handle of my vacuum that i'm always running over...
