Momma does NOT like my jerry-rigging her maternity ward. I made sure she returned to the nest after removing the stool, then secured the can to the hook and tied the pole base to a hole I made in the plastic planter. It was the only large liner that fit into my planter, so no flowers in that this year!.

We are expecting heavy downpours today and after yesterday's rain her little can couldn't take any more. Another hook, a few more bricks, a trash can lid that now has a hole, and I think we tiptoed around her abode with success. I had to add heavy stainless S hooks on the handle because the can was unbalanced and tilting. I felt a little silly on the ground reaching up to add a hook, then another, and another, afraid to have a bird beak in my forehead. The taller hook is not secure in the pot's dirt so we'll have to keep an eye on it. Next step is getting a piece of wire fencing to surround this.

Hahaha! This is definitely something I would do! Love it!
Nice work hope she stays there and he rain dose not hurt her and her babies.
Hi Marly,
I am forever amazed at the creative lengths you will go to protect our furry and feathered friends!! You should have a show called, MARLY TO THE RESCUE!! I am being totally serious here as I am so impressed with all that you have done!!! You are truly a kind and caring person and it shows!!! Thank you for being such an example!!!
Hope that momma bird stays put and knows how very lucky she was to build her nest in your watering can!!!
Take care and enjoy your weekend, my friend!
Heart Hugs~

I hope Momma bird is eventually appreciative.
You are so good to furry and feathered friends. We need more people like you.
Happy rainy Friday :)
That is an amazing "thing" you created, well done.
Marly: You have a tender heart, you are such a good mom, thank-you for taking care of them and keeping the rain away from them, plus you saved their lives by making it harder for birds of prey who would positively take those little babies.
I hope the mother is still taking care of her brood.

If your posts had Facebook style emojis available, I would make a whole line of thumbs-ups, smiley faces, and 'loves' !!
❤️👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😁😁😁❤️
A great solution and do hope the little birds will grow up and stay save and healthy.
Enjoy your day!

Thank you for caring so much for God's innocent creatures.
I think you are this generation's "Marly (Marlin) Perkins.
That is a great idea that you fixed for Momma bird and her eggs/babies.
I hope time will show you that all is well with the little bird family.
You are a sweetheart !

I like your nest relocation, even if it did mean momma wren was peeved. Glad she went back to the nest! This might be a next year thing - if she really likes the can, what about hanging it from a hook early spring, tilted so any water would drain out?
I just remembered I have an old metal can in the garden shed, I wonder if I put it out now, would it get a wren nest (been hearing at least one around) or would it be taken over by the damned wasps???.... maybe that's a "next year" thing too
Very clever indeed Marly...I especially love the s-ring balance weights LOL.... Maybe your design will start a landscaping trend. Lucky bird to have someone like you watching over her. I am still trying to get the nutty Robin to stop attacking my laundry room windows. I've put up cardboard thinking maybe she was seeing her reflection, but it's done nothing. Added some colorful fabric then thinking the color might deter her...no luck there either. I can't believe she has much of a beak left.... Stay warm! ~Robin~
You should have been an engineer, Marly! What a creative (and thoughtful!) invention for those sweet birdies!
