assuming the over one would continue to go well. Who is the trickster of needlework? The one that hears your confidence and sets you straight. That makes you miss that one thread of linen. That tricks your eyes into counting one more or less on paper and fabric. Hides your needle. Moves your floss out of order. Does she have a name? My mom called me Flossy long before I ever had an interest. Is that too kind? How about Needler? Shall we name a stitching trickster?
I have never had this issue with DMC before but it is shredding like hash browns. Ending with a feathery piece of floss and a ball on the backside is very frustrating. There is no way to frog on this count without it happening and the green monster appeared for every word since the last post. Not only did some of the linen color lighten in those spots, I can't get the dark floss color out. Tried tape, tweezers, and removed the majority, what's left isn't that noticeable (in sh). Very difficult in the tiny spaces between over one stitches.
I made some progress and I do like the over one being prominent with the change to dark floss. The chart color is the apricot of C and D. The light 712 for the eyelet isn't showing well but I don't plan to change that. I need to make a decision on the wonky upper alphabet before too long.

I thought I would be moving my baskets into larger pots and tubs today. But I did not expect this much pain. It will be much better in a year or so, I'm sure.
Have a good day folks!
Thanks for visiting.

Marly, if you can, get some vet wrap to hold your ice packs in place on your foot; makes it much easier; it has another name commonly but that is what it originally was, that stretchy stuff ~ karla
Wishing you a quick recovery! By the way, your cross stitch project looks marvelous so far.
You're making good progress on your sampler. I really like the colors. Thinking of you and hope the pain subsides soon.
May you heal quickly!
It could be your needle size,Marly. I had that happen with DMC...was like a fuzzball and then a flosstuber said the needle may be too big for the linen...I'm no sure why it does t hat but it is aggravating! Sometimes, I think the floss that's older, acts up quite bit and can schred. Hope your poor foot feels better soon
You're too damn picky LOL. I see no remnants of dark anything...nor any lightening of the linen. Heck...I am about to start a new pattern using linen with a severe crease through it on the diagonal. Not sure how it went there, but it ain't coming out no way no how. And it looks better than the "water stained" piece that my very expensive German iron leaked all over. Sure as heck am not splurging on yet another piece.... Yeah, when you come up with that trickster witch's name, let me know...so I can cuss her out by name. Not fair messing with me like that before I even really begin. Oooo....ouch. Hope you heal quickly. ~Robin~
Well, I don't know who the little minx is who is messing with our stitching, but as for me, one could call me the bitcher stitcher depending on the project! Good luck with the rest of it and hope the foot feels better with each passing day.
For Cranky Crow and the diagonal crease, I've heard that white vinegar on the crease and then iron it out will work. It's used to remove hem line creases when removing original hem in pants and skirts.
Your stitching looks good to me-don't see any leftover thread pieces.
Like the sampler and color of the linen fabric.
Get well soon and do hope the pain will gone soon.
Take care!
Greetings, Truus from Holland
Now is a good time for you to just sit and stitch.....seems like May is the month for surgery and pain.
So sorry you're in so much pain..........Dr. told me to take Tylenol. It helped a bit.
Am healing slowly...sawed a one by six board in half yesterday. Didn't want it where it was in my garden. "Done" ! Did use my right hand.
I hope, by this weekend, you'll feel like planting your "pretties".
Thinking of you !

Marly there is a seam ripper that has a cap on it that is rubber, resembling a pencil eraser. I have one that I keep in my sewing supplies for the times when I have to frog and there’s some color residue. If you rub that rubber tip gently over the color that seems to be left, like you’re erasing it, those left over fibers that cause that color residue come up. I’ve seen them lots of places and I believe they are made by Dritz. Blessings, Marlene
szelma is Polish for rascal. You might want to call your little mischief maker Zelma. Haha, makes me think of Dobie Gillis, but wait, that was Zelda. Funny how the letter “h” makes the words look wonky but I don’t think it could be altered, not that it should. Anyway, it is amazing that anyone can stitch that tiny let alone a person with eye issues. Looks beautiful.
That @##$$#& Madame Diabolique… if you are going to curse her, you might as well be
fancy about it.... She has been sent from hell to make stitching an exercise in
sometimes futility...(she is really jealous of what you accomplish in spite of her)
I love the way the sampler is coming along...great colors.
So sorry you are in pain. I have trouble with some DMC colors shredding lately too. I don't know if there has been a production change or just random skeins. I find over one very difficult. I give you a lot of credit on sticking with it.
Marly I am praying for you.
Your sampler is looking great. You are doing very well with the over one.
