Uncle!! Geez. This sampler is a little unusual and I like a dash of quirky. The top alphabet is somewhat odd looking letters done in satin stitch over two threads. I think this section makes the piece interesting and I am disappointed in my difficulty to work them. Its not only my vision, it's placement of where and when direction changes. Stitching through the entire alphabet would take forever and maybe I will adjust, darker thread may help. But what if it doesn't get any easier and I have many more letters to remove? I already redid the first two from one strand to two. One was impossible for me to see. I should be able to work this as regular cross right? Since it's charted in satin over two (36 count) single cross stitches can be substituted and if there is one thread difference in a letter, it won't matter. Plenty of room at the row's end for a little fudge. I really hate to have to make this change, but I am afraid to continue only to give in later.
My tunias need a second haircut already.
Glenna, thank you very much for the description of Parchment linen. You saved me the cost of a half yard that I would not like! I really appreciate your help.
4th of July is around the corner and since I gave away the few patriotic pieces I had, I may indulge in a short diversion to these two of my designs. Knowing what fabric I used would save time but the four journals purchased for that purpose are of course, lost. I could buy a fifth one but we all know it will disappear too.

Hope you're all having a good start to another week. June will be gone soon.
Thanks for visiting.

Your "tunias" are beautiful. So lush and pretty.
I have one poor little purple one......not in an onion patch though. LOL
I stitched your pear design many years ago. Love it !
This month has flown by. I hope July will be a much better month.
Take care, stay well.

Your flowers are certainly spectacular. I never did get to buy any annuals, my husband is very caution about going out. Concerned I might bring virus back to him so I did not get out. I have enough perennials but miss potted flowers around. Sorry your sampler is giving you trouble, we have all been there. I have all your pear patterns I really need to at least stitch one. Maybe should at least kit them up. So many patterns so little time!!! Stay well
I've done satin stitch, but I haven't, that I recall, done them in combination with cross stitch. I know, WUSS.... My brain just kinda froze when you were describing questions over direction and such. Not for me...I'm challenged by plain over cross stitches LOL. I can't believe the 4th is less than 2 weeks away... Neighbors at the lake decided we were having a party at our house on the 4th and I haven't one thing red, white and blue anywhere in sight there. Your 1776 has been at the top of my dance card for quite some time....but dang, sure I won't have time for it before this year's 4th. BTW....you stitched that on 35 count Tin Roof, 1 over 2. Don't ask....I'm weird that way. ~ Robin ~
