Why is Facebook now "suggesting for me" entertainment site posts for every two stitching posts? Do they think I give a bird's beak about what these people think? With all the 10 bedroom homes and several vacation compounds, why not open your doors and shelter these homeless instead of preaching? You have the resources, the space, the money, everything they need. So open your homes. Or shut your mouth. Done.
Here is the winner of Fancy, back in 2014! I have not recovered the chart but being such a simple design, I just recreated onto graph paper following my largest finish on Davos.

Going back to the nursing home this afternoon, told her I am not going to be visiting several times a week any longer. I have two weeks left to summer and I need a break before the surgeries and recovery. Between phone calls, and paperwork, and getting things for her whether at her home or requiring purchase, and the hour long trips every other day, no longer renewing my ticket for the guilt trip. I know how it would be if our positions were reversed. You don't base your actions on what others would do, you do what you feel is right. I have and will continue, do not need someone to make me feel it should be even more.
August 15th.
Son on a bitch.

Your flowers are just beautiful for this late in the season.
Hopefully Carole will understand, but you first must take of yourself before you can take care of her.
xoxo
Marly, I’m with you on the fleeting days of summer! I’m still trying to figure out where July went and now Aug. is half gone! Dang!
Enjoy this time and don’t feel guilty about not visiting Carole as often. I took care of my Mom’s needs for years and I totally understand how much time it takes out of your days just taking care of “things”. Your flowers are still beautiful. I put 4 of the petunias in my washtub and it is more than overflowing. I won’t need 4 plants next year! Thank you again for telling us about those petunias! I love them! And, I love the new fabrics you got. I may have to go looking for them! Take care.....Cherie in WI
I love your new linens....I have the Antique Lace on the way (should have already been here actually), but believe I like the other one better...it was on my list, but I didn't see it. Did you order directly from Seraphim?? Your fleurs are tres gorgeous....wanna come ravage some of mine?? With the torrential rains we've had, my neglect, and now the fall-like temps, I've lost interest frankly. I think you have chosen the right attitude regarding the visits to Carole. Going to see my mom is almost 40 minutes each way.... I do feel guilty not going more (although she doesn't remember after I've gone that I've been there, I know she treasures the visit while it is happening), but I found my patience was a bit short when I went out of "obligation".... I do try to get there at least once a week but it is somewhat challenging to schedule trips during her "awake" times. :-( ~Robin~
You need to take care of yourself before you can take care of Carole. She has to remember that you too have some health issues and be understanding of that. It can't always be all about her. You've gone above and beyond for your sister. Take a couple weeks off to enjoy the rest of the summer. No guilt. You'll be there for her when she has her surgeries and recovers. But really, take some time for yourself before all that. Because after that, you'll be busy again with her care.
Please don't have problems with not going so often to Carole!
Your health issues are almost as bad as hers so take care of yourself and I think it will improve your health.
Enjoy your petunia they are beautiful!! Will cut mine too-- they are all eaten by the slugs and only the stems are left.
Take some time to do some stichting and relax. I think Mark will agree that you take some time for yourself so do that without regrets.
Big hug for you and take care both of you,Truus from Holland
I agree with your final sentiment. I totally understand your need to take a break for yourself. I have been cutting back some of my petunias also. I am not as ruthless as you though so I doubt I will see such a big improvement. Your flowers are beautiful.
Your petunias seem to recover so fast from your "destruction". Maybe I wait too long before attacking mine? Not enough fertilizer? Or water (too much or not enough)?? I'm not on IG, FB or anything else, but yeah even bloggers that post little other than perfectly staged photos, or so many nearly identical photos become boring to me. I much prefer reading about those not-so neatly packaged homes, projects, gardens, and lives like mine is. Show me the "before" shots, damn it!
As others said - don't feel guilty about cutting back on visits to Carole. You've gone above and beyond in your efforts to try and keep her life together for *years*. It's time to put your needs first before your wheels fall off completely.
I'm so happy you'll be taking more time for yourself, Marly! It sounds like Carole is in such a nice place with caring staff and is being well taken care of. You have been the very best sister ever (honestly!) and I'm glad you can step back a bit and enjoy some "me" time.
I'm amazed at your petunias--I guess I need to hack away at mine :) Most of my flowers are fading now--sure will miss them this fall and winter.
I am SO with you on the celebrities--if each of them gave away even a fraction of their wealth (and some do!), just think how many of this world's problems could be solved. And I'm so sick of people like the Kardashians being famous at all--I mean WHY?!?! Honestly, people's priorities are so upsetting at times!
Put your oxygen mask on first...as the saying goes. You need some quality down time to get ready for what is ahead of you. I'm so happy you are still stitching. It is the best therapy! I tell my husband all the time if I couldn't stitch I'd be in Chattahoochee within minutes. Chattahoochee is where the state looney bin is located. Keep stitching. Also, embrace the mistakes. I finally have reached the point where everything does not have to be perfect. It's liberating...but my house is a total mess! Take care.
