Mid November

Why?  And why are black Friday sales so early?  We no longer receive ads for major retailers in our useless local paper, and even if I had a phone I would not allow push notifications or be linked.  Guess that's why I will never get the journals or bags or anything else that stitchers are promptly made aware of.

Mary, my sister's adjacent 105 year old resident passed away last night.  To be of sound mind at that age, what a blessing.  They moved a once lovely woman who now screams nastiness all day across the hall, and when she would barge into Carole's room, Mary would enter and in no uncertain terms set her straight!  Since Carole can't walk, Mary watched over her.  I only hope the new neighbor will be kind.  It would help if she could talk to other residents that dealt with limb loss, but privacy laws prohibit sharing such info.  Mid thigh amputation is harder to adjust to than below knee and along with the pain of the remaining leg, she is having a difficult time.

All those gowns I purchased that she insisted be ankle length despite my arguments, I have to cut and hem.  Watching a video about working with knits/jersey will have Mark taking me to JoAnn's for Wash-Away Wonder Tape.  Only a few are jersey and I will try to do that this evening.  Ordered several but nothing in stock locally, arrival time is end of November.

I'll tell you what I got for myself this morning!  From Lori Rippey......

Mary Bell.  Wowza!

My new linens were to be sorted and listed by count, but I got sidetracked.  When putting the 36 and 40 in pouches is when I realized how similar some colors were to each other.  My foggy mind could not produce a way to list color shades within counts, so that ended and I got the lemon zucchini bread out of the freezer.  Technically husband did.  Some days the weakness is profound and others better, so he is still on stair duty.  But I did offer a slice for his trouble.

Wow, this has been a ramble hasn't it?  Wish me luck on the hemming.  If it fails, it will become a raw zig zagged edge.  As I keep telling her majesty, she is not attending a prom so get over it.

Roethlisberger is out with Covid, it will be a grumpy afternoon for my stair master.

Thanks for visiting!

Isn't Mary Bell just too sweet? She has been tempting me, but I so rarely stitch and have plenty to choose from.
Black Friday is just a joke. Our local paper has almost no flyers, too, so if I want to know what is on sale must go search the websites.
So sorry to hear about Mary, but at that age...WOW! I hope Carole finds a new protector.
All the give-aways to school age children. Our tax dollars hard at work. Give, give, give so parents don't have to take responsibility. I know there are some truly needy...but I don't believe the majority of those getting the freebies should be getting them.
OK. OFF MY SOAPBOX!
Happy Sunday. The S word is in our forecast for this afternoon. Crap!

I suspect all the early BF sales are due to the shipping woes. And the creep of Christmas stomping on Thanksgiving more and more every year. IMHO it's feeding into the buy now frenzy, and then there WILL be empty shelves. Just the same as the empty toilet paper shelves were empty because of panic buying.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'd say it's time to go to a small bit of cash for Carole's grands. Especially this year with you being sick - I'd hate for you to stress yourself into being sick even longer. I went to cash for my DS when he left what I bought him sitting or sold it. I have zero regrets on that move. I'm glad you are on the mend, slow as it might feel to you.

Hi Marly: Its a shame that care centers are so careless about who they put in certain areas, its also a shame that they let people wander to other rooms, I hope Carole's new roomy helps to keep her safe.
Nice gift of a TV, you and your husband are very generous to your sister.
Nice new pattern, reminds me of Blackbird Designs, i may have to purchase this one and stitch in red.
I have many different pieces of fabric and counts, just saw on the news that even linen fabrics are going up in price, what the heck is going on? this price things is a shame, gas at highs and food jumping to an all time high.
Your bread sounds yummy.
I hope you are feeling better day by day.

Hugs
Catherine

What a sweet little sampler. I love things like this but I am such a slug lately, I get sidetracked in a minute and end up doing something else. It is so good to hear a little bit of edge to your conversation again. I live for it. Seriously, a dry wit is essential when medical issues send dark clouds over our heads. I just finished dog walking, bundled in multiple layers plus scarf, gloves, etc. Son is in Bermuda shorts and a t-shirt. It is going to be a long Winter.

I have to tell you that the fusible hem tape, no matter what brand is a bit of a waste on wearables. Why? Well, it washes poorly, gets stiff and scratchy, and then peels back. It does not tolerate hot water. Save your pennies. That said, If you do not have an overlock machine, just cut to length, fold over 1/2 inch x 2 then use a wide zig-zag. I wish we were closer and I could whip them up in minutes. Shipping them back and forth would cost a fortune. If you are only shortening them a little just make a tuck or two, across the bottom, like a fancy feature one sees on premium sleepwear, and draw up the excess in the tuck.

It is going to be a long afternoon with Ben out. This game should have been a walk. I just got my heart rhythm stabilized after the Pitt game the other day, I may be too old for this stuff! Take care.

I agree. She is not attending a prom. She has to get over it. You overextend yourself WAY TOO MUCH as it is Marly. Do it the simple way. xoxo

Hmmmm....Methinks something is short circuiting for me... I have read your post twice and apparently have "missed" quite a bit. I'm beginning to scare even myself. In any event, I'll comment on what I did see and read LOL... I saw Lori's new patterns yesterday and loved Mary Bell. I'm trying to talk myself out of it but have rarely been successful in such endeavors. Ahhh...rest in peace Miss Mary...she's had a long sojourn here and deserves nothing less. I can't even say I made it to 63 with sound mind. I can empathize with your agony over missing your QB....We went through that last week (for the same reason) and every minute of last week's game was extremely painful. Good luck with that hemming business... My absolute least favorite job in the sewing department. ~Robin~

Marly, I’m glad you’re getting your “edge” back! Besides your beautiful stitching, it’s why I come visit you!! With everything Carole has been through, it’’s a shame that she has to deal with an unruly resident. I hope that each day gets better for both of you.
I love Mary Bell! Now I’m going to have to go looking for her! And, I’m totally with you on the lack of ads in the newspapers. It goes along with the lack of news in them, too! I have better things to do than try to look through ads online!! Take care.....Cherie in WI

Her majesty sure is demanding. Good thing she has a lady in waiting. (Sorry, to say that would be you) to do all her menial tasks. All kidding aside, and I can imagine that losing a leg is very difficult on her, you've been sick too and can only do what you can do. I hope her majesty will like and appreciate the work you have put into sewing those gowns when you are finished with them. Fingers crossed.

Marly could you do just folding the egde of her dresses upwards to the length she wanted and then sewing with a zig zag?
Take care of yourself too!!!
Love that little sampler!! No time for stichting here but the end of the tunnel is there in a few weeks when moving house. I know I have to unpack all the boxes too,but there is no hurry by then.
Take care, a big hug and say no the next time to het majesty...😉
