Continuing

with our daily chores and life seems so selfish doesn't it?  But what can we do?   I made the mistake of watching the video presented to congress.  Bodies of infants killed, injured and crying children, a woman being dumped onto others in a mass grave, the helpless frail elders .... I am glad I was home alone.  Just too emotional.

--------------------------------

Settled down, I focused on a month worth of bills, and Carole's, my new checks finally came in.  We weren't notified that free checks at our bank were no longer offered so I was caught off guard.  My power bill is $40 higher than when lit for Christmas so I added that utility to my bitching list.  And the new phones for Tracfone do not show remaining service time or minutes which the 3G did.  Verizon purchased Tracfone so I'm expecting pay-as-you-go to end in the future.  Minutes balance is found by logging into the account online, we don't do that from our basic phones and a PITA regardless. Need to find another provider.

We went to the grocery store's pharmacy for refills, and while waiting, took out a loan for a corned beef brisket.  It's why they have bank branches in stores now.  I will use this recipe which is a favorite.  Sweet & sour but more sweet than tang.  The cabbage will be for soup or fried with bacon and onion.

Jean's border is going well, and my stem count error nullified another.  The stems in the bottom row are four stitches, I used five as elsewhere, but the bottom flowers are charted three spaces from the inner border while the others are two.  (insert spinning head here)  Again, not paying attention.  My error in adding a stitch actually made the placement proper.  I do plan to leave the inside border tent stitch as charted and not change to a full cross.  Very few of the flowers have a "tip" to them in blue, a few have red.  Not adding either, simply because I am not strict in following reproductions, and a here and there element doesn't appeal to me.

Thanks for visiting.

I am so grateful that you are not afraid to post your frustration with stitching and the times that you don’t end up with the result you are looking for. I have a habit of starting a project and finding a mistake and then just ripping the whole thing out or throwing it in a basket somewhere never seeing the light of day. You never seem to give up and I admire that about you. I just wanted to say thank you!

Perhaps it isn't the way you sound do,but I never watch talkshows or any other special program on what's going on in the Ukraïn than only on the newsprogramm. What else can I do for these people than sending prayers.....
Jean is looking good and through your changes I have lerend to do the same when I don't like a color or placement.
Take care Marly and lots of love,Truus from Holland

I had Tracfone years ago but purchased an Iphone at Walmart. Was able to transfer my phone number, and I now use their Straight Talk. I get unlimited talk, text, and data for $35/month before fees. Altogether I pay just a little less than $40/month. You may want to consider it.

My husband had an Iphone through his job before he retired. He was leery of switching to Straight Talk when he retired. However, he did his research (as always) and found it was a good deal. Hope this helps you.

Your persistence with your stitching is truly amazing. I also get frustrated, tend to put the item in its project bag, add a note of why it is there and not completed. I understand the loan for brisket. Good grief, prices are astounding. I feel so sorry for the farmers and producers who have been forced to raise prices. The cost of supplies and fertilizer have tripled in one year. How will this continue? Our food banks are begging for more support, those who were having problems before are again in great need. I just cannot believe the domino effect of everything that is happening.

Take care, keep on stitching, your dedication to your work inspires.

I am still in sticker shock over the cost of groceries....that is IF you can find what you need. Pet food shelves are almost all completely empty here...and online sources are "out of stock" as well for the things my pets eat. Then there's the heating bills. Yes, gas is crazy I know...but I don't know how we can maintain paying what we are for propane and fuel oil. Wow. I know that's small beans compared to what others are going through...but still....YIKES. I had hoped to make a corned beef dinner today but had a full day of appointments...maybe tomorrow. But wish me luck...I meant to grab brisket and ended up with English chuck (??) corned beef instead. What the heck?? Never heard of it.... I will be eating it many nights as leftovers, so I am hoping it turns out. I liked the days when someone else cooked the corned beef and cabbage. ~Robin~

Marly, your sampler is so pretty. I admire your persistence to finish it. No one will know if there are a few mis-counts here or there! I agree with you.....having to log in to Tracfone to find your airtime is a total PITA!! Enjoy your corned beef! Cherie in WI

So very sad and scary what is happening in the Ukraine. My heart breaks for the people.
Cracks me up. Gas prices and inflation are suddenly Putin's fault. Doesn't matter that it all start rising in January 2021. Before it was all Covid's fault. Now Putin's. This administration will take no responsibility.

FYI, there is a Tracfone app. You and check your minutes, data, and # of texts. All you need to do is click on the app to open it. You can also renew or add plans, minutes etc. right on the app.

Marly: Everything is going up and you are right we have to take out loans to buy meat, if the US would only buy meat from the US and not foreign countries. (Fish and seafood also)
Lovely design, it looks like you are ready to frame just about.
I hope Carole is doing well as well as you.

Honestly, what's with the price of corned beef?? I opted for lamb. Lamb stew for St. Patrick's Day.

I watched the war in Ukraine for a week. Crying every day. It was all too much so I'm praying instead.

I have to keep telling myself "that was to replace 2 weeks of groceries" when I see the total in the store. But at least I've been fortunate that so far, have been able to find what I need/want. I do notice empty spots on shelves, but except for pasta & frozen vegetables, it's mostly processed things we don't use much of.

My guess on the price of corned beef is just like prime rib, there's only so much of it on a cow. Then add in the increased demand for St Patricks and grilling season. Even so, here lamb is even more expensive if it's even available.

Jean is looking good, it's great when an error turns out to be exactly what's needed.
