Error #1- fixed

Once the larger right side border is stitched, the sampler will be balanced.  Easy solution, no stitch removal, whew.  I like it.

The thread is Needle Necessities overdyed that I've had for years.  A furball has hidden my bag of DMC 3777.  I can't find it anywhere so decided to use this thread, the shading hits several DMC reds, no purplish or bluish areas.  The fabric is one of my favorites, PTP Sand.

Last year's post https://samplers-and-santas.blogspot.com/2021/06/blog-post.html showed Missy at Bud's grave.  She has somehow known from the beginning, but is spending time with all three now.  She has taken to Nit's favorite spots inside.   May be a silly thought, but we are searching for a black plush cat in a sleeping position to see if it comforts her.
Mark is driving Carole's friend and me for a visit tomorrow.  I made spinach/pine nut pesto and will top a few cheese ravioli with it, along with a few other treats.  I have to mark "specimen" on an odd looking container for the resident's kitchen fridge.  An little old snoop is always taking her drinks and foods.  There is a kitchen with coffee maker, microwave, fridge, cabinets and counter for residents to use.  As I said, a wonderful facility, so many features to make it feel more like a home.  If you want to see a few photos, they are on this post https://samplers-and-santas.blogspot.com/2021/06/a-nice-layout.html.  This kitchen is adjacent to the activity/lounge and across from a nurse station so a watchful eye can prevent accidents.

Enjoy your day.

It is heart breaking to watch another pet grieve. . I had two cats who were great buddies one died. We would let them play in the attic so when Virgil was gone Sides would spend time staring at the door to the attic,I would let him upstairs he would search for a bit then come down. This went on for a bit then stopped. Grieving takes time, but they do recover.

So, so, sad. It took a long time for Liza to stop searching for Purrcy...and it broke my heart. Your fix is perfect. I think I actually prefer your version to the original. That original key border looks a bit skimpy. And as I said, I love, love, love that Sand. ~Robin~

Great idea to mark your special things as "specimens," Marly :) I never would have thought of that--should have given it a try with the refrigerator in our kitchen when I worked! I went back and looked at the photos of Carole's home--it really does look like a lovely place.

So sad to see little Missy there by herself. Pets do grieve just like we do. I hope you can find a nice plush kitty for her.

Nice solution to your sampler--it is looking great on that Sand fabric!

Poor Missy. When Angus's buddy Calvin died he stayed next to his body until the next day when we took Calvin to be cremated. Angus wouldn't leave his side and kept watch over him the whole night. I know they grieve for each other, but couldn't believe it when I saw Angus with his paw on Calvin. I snapped a picture of him doing it. It's sad but is a good reminded of how much they really do love each other. My kids have plush cats by Douglas, they make them in quite a few colors/patterns. Here's a link to the black one but they also make a black and white. https://www.amazon.com/Douglas-Cuddle-Toys-Plush-Cuddly/dp/B003KKGLLE

That little old snoop who's always taking Carole's food and drinks is probably the same person who took everyone's food and drink out of the workplace break room. We know the type. LOL

I am sure animals grieve just like people. Our dog sat and howled after his sister had to be put to sleep and he'd never howled in his life before. Maybe a little stuffed cat will help her to recover a bit.

Super save, Marly! Your piece of Sand linen is so pretty. One of my teacher friends used to label her stuff in the refrigerator "science experiment".

Marly, your little sampler is so pretty and I’m glad you could save it without starting over. I love the sand linen!
I feel so bad for you and your husband as well as Missy. Animals do indeed grieve. My daughter had to put their dog down a few months ago and their cat has been spending her time in the room he slept in. She wasn’t real fond of him but misses him now!
I hope you had a nice visit with Carole and that things are getting better for her. Take care......Cherie in WI
