I found the bag of 3777 under a little rag rug that Nit frequented. Wow. Sorry I didn't find it sooner! And after comparing the overdyed I'm using, the color doesn't appear a great difference but look at the stitching. Have all the threads I've used been from a darker area of that skein? Nope. I alternated pulling a brighter strand every other time. So what the heck?
Maybe it worked out for the best because the next pouch will be a darker linen and require a brighter red, the 3777 could be perfect for it. I don't want the pouches to be the same thread or on the same fabric. This lighter sand can handle the darker.
I read a story about a woman walking as she did so often, to her mom's house. On the way, she was attacked by three dogs (article said used for fighting) that were registered as dangerous but still escaped. She lost both arms, her colon, possibly her esophagus, massive wounds to her face and body. My dentist has two Mastiffs in office that are as sweet as can be, I've played with and kissed, but now I need to request my exam room door be closed. I would be unnerved to lie there reclined and vulnerable as they enter. I can now understand why the five year old neighbor is needing counseling. I've had dogs as does she, but things have changed. I am afraid to take a walk! There has never been a problem here or the wooded area surrounding in decades, and I don't believe there would be a problem. But that fear, even unrealistic and improbable, can't convince me to be reasonable. My pepper spray is outdated, I will get a new. Some are labeled for canine attack, not sure of the difference. One day I may settle down and that fear will be gone, but a spray kept in a purse or pocket at all times, seems prudent these days. Be safe ladies!!
Have a good day.

Personally, I'm liking the darker overdyed red. Yeah....pepper spray. I mentioned the instance Little Crow and I were held captive in our own home...then my husband as well...and ultimately, the sheriff's deputy who finally responded...after HOURS. The deputy tried the pepper spray and the first thing he said when he finally got away from the dog and made it into the house was that he was surprised the spray didn't work because it always did in training. Hmmm.... I'd suggest getting the stuff for canines. ~Robin~
How sad about the woman who was attacked. One just never knows and you can't be too cautious.
I have heard that wasp spray is better than pepper spray. It can shoot up to 40 feet and burns just like pepper spray. I prefer to keep attacking dogs, bears and people more than 40 feet away. Loke reading your blog!!! Happy stitching xxxxxx
Is bear spray different from pepper spray for people? Stronger maybe? Bigger cans?
Then again, what SusieK said about wasp spray is very interesting. Robin - I don't remember reading about your experience, that might have been before I found your blog though.
It might be my eyes, but I've often wondered what the fuss over hand dyed threads is. Yes, they are pretty in the skeins, but once stitched, they often look like a solid color, especially in small motifs. Even so, I did splurge on them for His Eye is on the Sparrow I'm working up the courage to start (so BIG!).
I'm glad you found the 3777.
I like the red of DMC 3777.
Poor woman who was attacked by these dogs.
When I was a little girl about 5 years there was a small dog who jumped at me,and I was frightened. The owner said that it only would like to play with me but I am still frightened for dogs big or small.
Take care and enjoy your stitching.,Truus from Holland
Dangerous animals do scare me too! No matter how sweet they are, those with historical prey instincts really should not be roaming around a dentist's office, IMO> Life is just too darn complicated these days.
