The fat eye

Hi folks.  I switched to Ann for a little while and although I've wanted to stitch this for years, I'm not enjoying it.  This raw 30 count with two threads was my mainstay for decades.  The Blackbird book's recent project stitched with two on low count was fun, but very small.  I have a long way to go on Ann.  Maybe coming off 36 over one requires time to adjust.

My question for you, do you think the two thread eyelets are fat?  The second set is with one thread.

The next section is all eyelet alpha, quite large, and I think may look as stuffed as my rear in jeans.  A little uncomfortable.  But all of my first samplers were two threads, loads of eyelets, they look fine.

Have you ever used two threads in an area and one thread in another?

EDIT -  Mystery solved.  Marked 30 count, it is not.  Counting my stitches it is a tight 32.  That one extra stitch makes a difference, and explains why my threads look crowded.

I have no idea, nor do employees, why this chart will not print.  I will need to transfer to my tablet and a data stick in case of a crash.  I plan to check with a fed-ex office that is about 40 minutes from here near my vascular doc.

I needed butter and mayo for my tomato sandwiches, butter here is $7.79 and Hellman's is $7.19.

Have a great day.
Please give your thoughts on the fat eyes.

The slimmer eyes are more distinct...would they be "easier" for you
to execute? Don't you just love "technology" and its quagmire? Hope
FedEx can solve the problem. Those food prices are deplorable and are a sign of what happens when you don't leave well enough alone...Have
a blessed day, Marly dear.

Hello Marly: I have never had a design with two different threads in a design, they have always been the same thread count for stitching.
I had the same problem trying to print PDF's I have bought on Etsy; I contacted the seller, and they sent it PDF not sure where you bought your hope this helps.
It may be your settings in the computer for printing.
I hope you are having a great day so far; I love seeing what you are working on.
I hope Carole is doing well.

I much prefer the 1 thread.

Since you asked....Yeah, I prefer the eyelets with a single thread. And, yeah...I have done pieces with varying numbers of thread. Most often it is something done with a single thread, but areas where 2 are used for more distinction. I'm no purist but I think I've done some designs that are actually designed that way. I can try to remember what ones they might be, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. ~Robin~

I too prefer the eyelets done in a single thread, you can see them better, but then I am not a lover of stitching with 2 threads anyway, I often thinks it looks far too crowded. Sometimes if I think a X stitch looks a bit sparse, usually because of the thread I am using, I do another single stitch over the cross, either a horizontal or a vertical, so almost a Smyrna Cross but not quite. Good luck with your printing.

Hi Marly. I prefer the one thread for the eyelets. More distinctive.
Hope FedEx can print your chart.

I did a small item that called for 2 threads on 32 count linen for everything. I did the first eyelet and thought it far too lumpy. It might have been fine if there were fewer stitches used to make it, but 8 stitches... ugh. Of course in my case there's always the possibility my stitching technique wasn't up to snuff. I tore it out and used 1 thread for all the eyelets.

I think in your case the 2 thread eyelets might be OK if the thread was lighter color? But as is, I think I'd go with 1 thread.

Stinks on the chart not printing. Would have been nice if the printing person stopped it when blank pages started, but I suppose their machines had it all printed too fast. Or rules - someone says print this, woe unto them if they don't. I suppose the designer has no idea either?

I like the eyelets with one thread, but what the heck do I know?
When hooking, I will use different sizes of worms, but maybe it is different with stitching. I'm sure whatever you choose will work just fine.

I think I like the one thread look better, Marly. Plus it would be a time saver :)

I just don't know how young families are managing with food prices the way they are! There are just two of us and I'm shocked what we spend each week--with usually no meat in the order. I've switched to the store-brand butter, but I can truly tell the difference.

I prefer the single strand too

As everyone said-- I prefer the single thread.
But said this-- almost every xstitch I have made last years I do with a single thread.
Sometime there is in the chart a small piece recommand for 2 threads for making it to stand out.
The company who sold you this chart ,should have send you a link so you can print it out...bad service they don't.
Take care Marly and same here in the Netherlands with the prices so high,Truus from Holland

I`m on the single thread bandwagon too. Not to change the subject but I feel like I`m watching a soap opera when it comes to your cat affairs (not "Days of Our Lives" but "Cats in Our Lives"). Will the newest stray continue to come around? Will Missy accept the newcomer? Will Marly and Mark use Petey`s shelter to welcome the stray into their hearts and home? Are there more cats to follow? Stay tuned...

Yikes! $7.79 for butter? I bought a pound for $3.99 on Tuesday. I like both eyelets. The Eileen Bennett piece I am stitching currently is on 30 count (which I really don't like...but it's what I had) and I am just using 1 thread over 2. But for satin stitches I am going over them twice.
