Should this tiny vanity have side trim ...
or nothing?
This was not the original plan, and I'm sorry that high shiplap is behind the vanity. Once I decided on pine and its backsplash, the glue had dried. Removing that board would require major drywall repair.
What are your thoughts on the sides?
???????????

I like with the sides. Looks finished.
I’m liking it with the sides too.
I like it with the sides, Marly--makes it look like an antique washstand.
I like the sides too. Finishes it off! It’s cute, Marly! Cherie in WI
Yes. Very nice. I can envision small towel racks/rings, similar to the fawcet ...
I like the sides. It looks finished. It will look great when you accessorize.
Yes to the side trim...but I like the look of the right side in the first photo where the lines mimic the back trim. (Yeah, picky I am...I've been told that a time or two.) ~Robin~
I wonder if you could find some tiles to fit?
With sides!
Bummer on changing your mind on the shiplap behind the sink. That's why I hate decorating - it often doesn't match what I had in my head, and that's before we get into changing my mind when it's too late to go back.
I like the sides a bit better - it makes the vanity look a bit more like a dry sink than just the back wood piece. And I agree with Robin - the curve to match the back curves (not that you asked about that part). OTOH...maybe that's a bit too much going on compared to how simple the rest of the room will be?
Merry Christmas Marly: I like without the sides, I know I am a bit different about the sides from the other commenters.
Have a wonderful day.

I like the side pieces a lot because it truly looks like an antique cabinet was used.
