Thank you all very much. The sides win, and also will mimic the top swoop as recommended.
Easy peasy.
Except.
I want it changed from this ....
to this.
Much better (as shown in my Paint program). As I mentioned, this pine top with backsplash was not the plan. The tiny top was to be a scrap piece of stone from a kitchen sink cut out. No one available to cut the holes for sink and faucet, they only do large jobs.
Taking that shiplap piece off the wall will not only be difficult, but destructive. That's what drywall compound is for I told him nicely. By him .... I mean my hubs. The pine is not glued, easy removal, and we can replace with a higher board.
My eye bubble is still bouncing. I am scheduled for multiple tests in the coming weeks, hoping for a good outcome. A pacemaker was mentioned, my rate is extremely low and highly erratic. The hospital I go to is closing in two weeks. Now what?
Hope all is well.

Like it a lot as it is at the moment.
So sorry you have so many appointments in the coming days as well the hospital closing and the bubble didn't disappear.
I have for about 5 years in each eye a black spot that moves when my eyes are moving...very unpleasend...so I understand a bit what it is with your eye bubble.
Take care and lots of love to you, Truus from Holland
Merry Christmas Marly: I like without the sides but that's just me.
I do wish that your bubble would go away, I worked a couple days a month at the Phillips Eye Institute when I was working, I had heard about the bubbles causing problems for some people, I hope that your bubble will go away and very soon.
I hope that the pace maker helps rhythm of your heart.
I must say that your healthcare system must be bad if a hospital is closing, so sorry about that is the next hospital a very long way away?

I like what you like if it can be done. Our hospital here is closing too or has closed. We used many times over the years and it's 3 miles away. Too expensive to upgrade is what I hear but the emergency room is still working. Huge building so don't know what will be happening,
I'm sorry about your eye and heart issues I hope you get the care you need.
Hmmmm.... I actually like both versions. Of course it would be better without the piece of shiplap there for either version, if you can't talk hubby into removing it, there's no use lamenting its presence. So sorry to read of your continuing medical issues. Our health care providers are disappearing left and right here. We had a clinic about 20 minutes away where most all of my drs were. Starting 3 or 4 years ago, the drs started leaving and not being replaced...then entire depts closed. It's like walking into a morgue now when I go there for the few drs left (basically my pcp and eye dr). Everything else I have to go to a clinic 40 minutes away. Guess it could be worse...but it certainly could be better. Good luck with things. Think of you so very often. ~Robin~
