With or without a bubble

this is quite confusing.

The plan was to do a little online shopping, haven't had happy mail in many months.

Nothing has changed regarding color confusion.

I like darker linen and Bramble looked nice, have none, thought I would try it.  I found it is a color by Seraphim, and also Picture this Plus.  Looking at the mfg website photo and shop sites, decided to not take a chance.

Blue? Gray? Brown?  Once I get frustrated I lose interest.

Regardless, it snowed, I'm crabby.  Glow bird is even more stunning against the white.  I did order the new Kogut Santa book and two linen pieces.  I really wanted her blue Santa from the Jingle Ball, but couldn't find stitch count/size anywhere.  Did not purchase admission ticket since there were no other projects of interest to me.  I'll look for it when released next year.  Didn't purchase the BBD book for the drum.

Going through recipes for sweets, also meals, almost all are Carole's handwriting.  No sense sharing any with Chris and his family since they were never taught to read cursive.  Script fonts either.  She loved entertaining and cooking, planned all the holidays and menus, I feel quite lost.  Nutrolls were not on her list, I made them every Christmas along with bobalki.  I lost twenty pounds (????) after years of trying with no results.  Hoping I can be reasonable with treats, but with a very limited amount this year, it may not be that difficult.

Looking at others' recipes, I don't understand how mom's single yeast cake with six cups of flour works.  Most all others are half+ that amount with one cake.  I changed the two tablespoons of honey in the nut filling to two tablespoons of pure maple syrup (2# nuts).

Have a good weekend.

Good call on not ordering the Bramble. I did...it's green....closest to the one on the far right of your photo but definitely green. The nut rolls sound yummy. I've never made them and don't recall my mom making them either though she baked almost everything. I am completely shocked that Chris did not learn how to read cursive. So he can't write cursive either. Yikes. What is happening to our education system and our society??? Great on the weight loss...Grief and stress can do that to you. I hope you give yourself the grace to enjoy some of your wonderful treats. Not much baking here. Given that my DIL has Celiac's, it's a pain to bake. It's not just a matter of subbing in some "Measure to Measure" gf flour. I've found it essentially requires a chemistry degree...and most times still doesn't taste as good as the regular version. Snow here too. Surprise, surprise. Not. ~Robin~

Love the old recipes and have a lot of my Mum too written in cursive as they did when she was a schoolgirl. I didn't learn to write cursive too,but I can read it very easy.
As a lefthanded it is not easy write cursive, but I have learned to write so some years ago when I did a workshop calligraphy.
Hope and wish you peaceful Christmas days and take care, Truus from Holland

I made the mistake of buying Bramble, too. It is green! I found it shocking when I learned that they no longer teach kids cursive. No civics, no geography, no math, (or at least making change) makes me wonder what they teach! Handwritten recipes are the best! I have some of my mom’s and grandma’s and I treasure them. So glad that the glow bird is still visiting. Hope your eye gets better soon, Marly. Cherie in WI

Can't tell the color in any of those either...(and I don't have a bubble). I'm clueless when it comes to baking. Robin's post made me laugh about the chemistry degree - she's right. I usually just get store bought. Shameful, I know. But I do have some chocolate chips and a bag of pecans so I'm going to try to bake some Choc Chip cookies. I'll wait til the last minute so I don't eat them all myself. Merry Christmas!

I was just shocked years ago when I heard they were not teaching cursive!
The grief diet is a lousy way to lose weight...but congrats.
I am not a baker because I am the only one who would eat it.
The color variations of bramble is very confusing!!!
