The influence of Lauren

 Purging.

Being the ruler of the Procrasti-Nation, I have thought about removing items yet failed to act.  Why.  Because I worry that I may be sorry, as has happened with charts and stitched pieces I gave away.  But seeing Lauren tackle this, and needing rooms emptied for painting, it's time to get serious.  This isn't needlework related, it's household, it's baskets, it's boxes, it's the brown jugs I loved and collected.  Most must go, a few perfect pieces will not.

Everything, even in small quantities, is making me anxious.  Changing from the dark colonial colors and paring down visuals is the goal.  Not easy.  Store excess in the basement?  That's just moving from one place to another, not really purging.  Went through charts and have a load to offer.  Again, procrastinating.  Never sold on those destash FB groups.

I added racks to the bottom shelf of the hutch and will try to organize better.  Since I have a very small inventory of charts and linen I want to use, it should be easy.  It ain't.  Nothing seems to fit or offer easy access.  I'm not sure if the years of meno madness or the severity of covid changed my gumption and ability to focus.

I found this (again) and searched for a chart but no luck.  My SIL made this for Carole and I would like to stitch one.  Easy enough to follow I guess.  Add to the list!

If anyone is interested, Ice Cube candies are sold on Amazon.

Break is over, back to work.

Very warm this coming week, hope you enjoy the sunshine.

Too funny to see my name in your blog title.
I am not purging anything from my main living spaces. Right now it is just the attic and that is totally overwhelming. The basement will be another story. All my antique cupboards are shock full of sh**, er to be polite, stuff. How on earth do I have 3000 square foot of stuff in a house half that size???
Good luck to you on your quest to lighten the load.
That bargello heart is a beauty. Bargello, right?
Warmer temps will be most welcome...and the extra hour of daylight in the evening. I hope the government finally votes to keep DST.

Lauren is a bad influence, you know?? You say everything, even in small quantities, makes you anxious...well, PURGING makes me anxious. I bet that I have more stuff in need of purging than both you and Lauren combined...and NONE of mine is baskets, boxes, jugs, or even Lauren's attic contents. Mine is stuff that should have been gone long, long, time ago. I probably especially need starting with my closet where I can't find a wretched thing anymore...and then there's a basement. EEEK. But every time I even make a plan to start, something happens that pulls me away from the task (think death, probate, lightning strikes, weddings, illness, etc.) And pretty soon it will be "outdoor season" and a need to concentrate on the never-ending lake remodel. You and Lauren should come for an extended stay....just saying. ~Robin~

Oh Lauren. If I had a basement and attic..it would be a mess. I have to really think about what comes in to my house now. Love the bargello heart and its colors. If you find the pattern, please do share. Janice

It isn`t easy to downsize. I`m a sentimental sucker and hate to part with things that evoke fond memories but I`m thinking about purging at least! Love your minimalistic look (at least it is minimalistic compared to mine) and you have a wonderful eye for calming color and a simplistic feel to your rooms. Even your yard has a simple charm that`s warm and inviting. I would gladly allow you to decorate my home.

Three years ago when moving house to a smaller one, we did lot of things away.
From some I now regret but is not here anymore. I find it very hard to unclutter because of the memories.
Think again before you are doing anything away....
Take care,Truus from Holland

Purging can be so difficult. I still have things of my parents to go through and then get rid of (but it breaks my heart). That heart is a beauty Marly - I bet you could easily recreate it.
