2025 Finish#30

Am I sorry I cut the linen preventing the border I had no intention to stitch?

Of course.

Would I have been able to complete such a border during my era of errors?

Of course not.

Am I happy with this little sampler?

Yep.

40 count cappuccino, dmc, added the heavier outline.  Scrappy new tablet's photo looks like a row of pink.  Nope.  But I wondered if a light blue row between the red would be good.  Stitched the alphabet in eyelet.  Hope to final finish with subdued olive green backing.  Red would be too much.  Or not.

Boom.

Have a warm and sunny day.

Give that lady a cigar ( finish#29)

Just seemed the right finish and I hope to construct soon.

Busy day for a crabass, and company for dinner.  I feel bad that I no longer want to entertain, even two!  But I do not.

Have a good day.

2025 Finish #28

A few changes in letter size/position, dmc 221 on 46 count.  Still larger than I expected and will try to construct today.  I am sorry a brighter red wasn't used.

Have a good day folks.

Scrimp or scrap (finish #27)

I save even the smallest pieces of linen.  It's the Stella in me.  I start projects in the corner that will leave the largest leftover.  This mini from the last project was barely enough to work this tiny sampler.  I saw it in a post, believe it was from a recent retreat, and very simple.

I needed alphabet, this was a quick fix and quick stitch.  I've created small marking samplers just by using the letters on a old chart, and have also recreated from photos.  Like this tiny that I adore.

October is ending already.  Why does January through March take forever to leave?

2025 Finish #25

 Fragments in Time 2023
Berlin Woolwork

No backstitch, no vertical background, no border, no bottom stitching.  DMC 746 in place of ecru flowers.  We all know I am a lazy stitcher.  I may add the bottom stitching, but not in blue.

This is a 3x3 frame that was on sale at Michael's recently.  On 40 count, it would fit perfectly.  I still may stitch into a mini pillow.
If you would like this tiny chart, let me know in comments and I will pull a name if several.

Have a good weekend.

2025 Finish #24

Boom.

40 count Water Lily with dmc.  Used white in place of ecru, 720 for 721, outline changed slightly.  And of course, the blue suede shoes.

2025 Finish #23

 I'm done.  I think.

So very many errors.  The background pattern would not be a problem, but I think I need to set him aside for now.

Halloween Cat
Twin Peak Primitives

Finish will be black or rust mini poms.  Purchased online several times, thought they are all the same.  They are not.  I want tight minis that can be removed from the flange.

It's October.

Hope I don't get dizzy from shaking my head.

2025 Finish #22

I think she is Fang from the Big Eye Gang.

40 count dyed, dmc, face 471 and 580, border changed to black/ecru/351.

Boom.

2025 Finish #21

Fewer rows in the outline border, and for whatever the errors, he is more centered.  Happy with results.

Glad this project is finished!

2025 Finish #20

Camera, old tablet, new tablet, all lousy photos.

I had enough 926, thank you for the offers.  Will check HL tomorrow but I'm expecting to find that favorite series to be different.

My first fig.  A small one, maybe they will all be this size.  Sweet, soft, small.

Quite a few on the tree and still more starting.

Going for mums tomorrow (Saturday).  It's early for me, but they sell out quickly to all the Fall lovers here.  If I find more later in the season, I'll get another.

Starting to rehash last September when it all started with covid.  My yearly lung CT scan was missed last year, anxiety about that too.  Next week.  I don't know if I mentioned that my new cardiologist (seen once), is leaving.  I guess I have to go back to my previous.  This test was first ordered in January, and between inept staff and long wait times, then new doctor and her hospital's wait time for testing, it's been a real ride.

Hope your weekend has a good start.

Ta-da 2025 finish # 19

Ann Greanawalt on 40 count finished at 4x4.

Not like the 4x4 that took a chunk out of my arm.  My bracelets keep getting stuck in this ditch.

Also final finished George.

After almost 20 years, I had to get a new tablet.  iPads are too pricey for me, got another Galaxy and it's nice, but everything is green.  Every photo is fricking green requiring a full slide to the pink spectrum.  Nothing looks good.  I guess this old one will be used for pics.

Just another item to add to my crabby.  And the wool pressing mat I have that was highly recommended by quilters, stinks!  Tried various sprays and others, no luck.  As soon as the iron heats it, stink-o.

Enjoy your weekend.  Be safe!

2025 Finish #18

George Eisenbrey from R&R Reproductions

40 count something dark, minor color changes, finished at 4.5" x 4.75".

I chose 738 for the bands L symbol and am pleased, looks very much like the chart's photo.  I even followed the wonky off one border and most of the errors.

Now to decide on the edge finish, I want to final finish this one soon.

Have a good weekend folks.

2025 Finish #17

I like it.  Will be a soft finish with edge trim.

Why, if I like the sampler, won't I stitch it?  Because I have lost desire to engage in larger projects.  Even though not really large compared to others, it is to me.  This was easy to reduce in both width and height.

The new charts recently purchased will be pushing my limit, I plan to start one and see how it goes.

 Have a good day.

2025 Finish #16

Color changes of course.  And I didn't add all the floaters.  Only two were stitched at the edge to fill a gap (five were charted there).

Look at the bottom point ....

and notice how that light flower shows here.

Added a tiny smudge with a light brush from my stamp pad and blended out.  I didn't think it would be noticed otherwise and the point would appear naked.  I've done this often and if it looked obvious, I used it elsewhere in the mottling.  Most in this instance will be within the seam.

As for the kitchen, the fan is a Braun unit meant to be installed in existing cabinet or built in.  I couldn't find a complete hood unit that wasn't at least 20" deep.

We cut out the surround we made to fit the addition.  Primed, ready to paint.  And the bottom of the cabinet where the fan is installed will be papered.

Two other features I like in my small kitchen is the cutting board slot,

and the rack cabinet above the fridge.  Our cabinets were never changed since building, just sanded, primed, painted, moved around. (Too lazy to paint the original oak inside this cabinet's doors.)

I turned a small old box on its side to hold salt, pepper, and sugar.  The backsplash panels behind the stove have three coats of water based matte polyurethane.  Nothing sticks, wipes like glass.
The little fan I use is no longer available but there are many others on Amazon.  Most are listed as baby or stroller fans, not all have lights.  Mine lasts a very long time on a charge and was around $9.

This post is a lot of stuff isn't it?  Sorry!

That's all folks.
Hope your week is going swell.

2025 Finish #15

Quite a few changes.  Added the sepals, increased space between second and third row, left off the majority of floaters, added more to the top section, changed flower centers.

The light flowers were added to the top in an effort to align edge.  Not sure if I failed to construct properly, but the front area is much lower when sewn. The pattern offers a template which I used.

The black seeds .... nah.  Just seemed to add clutter.

Will I do the third chart of blueberries?  Not sure.  I would really like an orange/bittersweet berry but don't know if I want to bother reworking the chart.

Continue to be surprised at the aftermath of this single root tooth that was loose (until he tried removing) and without infection.  Yoi.  She failed to call in my script for antibiotic, good thing I have leftovers to take.  As with most offices here, open three days a week and closes early.  Not in till monday.

Enjoy your day folks.

2025 Finish #13

Many changes on 36 count Heartland.

Nowhere to purchase velvet or wool felt except chancing color online, so hopefully my wool pieces will yield an option for the berry's top and I can final finish this.

Will I stitch the blueberry and strawberry?  Time will tell.

My eye that had the detached retina surgery is causing several types of distortions at times and needs examined very soon.  I tripped and my arm went into the edge of a square wood post preventing a fall, but the scrape removed an extensive amount of flesh.  After two weeks, they are pleased with healing progress (hydrocolloid patches are a blessing) and no further treatment is needed.  And tomorrow I hope to get in to the dentist to find out the cause of intense pain in tooth and jaw.  All things that are minor and treatable.

My flowers are drowning, and another day of rain with possible storms tomorrow.  Yippee.  Our limited warm season has already been shortened.

Stay safe.

Certainly not humdrum

If you are a humbug that becomes a drum, does that make you a humdrum?

Not this definition!

I am torn between the two.  What to do what to do.

Love this so much, on some sort of 36 count with dmc equivalents.  Let me repeat.  I love this so much.

And even though small, I was already tiring of the star pattern and wanted to stop at two rows instead of three.  Not a good sign.

Sun is out.  It's not raining.  Having shredded Italian hot beef sandwiches (on my recipe blog) hash brown "funeral" casserole, Italian green beans with garlic, balsamic and hot honey.

Enjoy your day!

Humbug to heart

I just could not warm up to that little humbug.  I removed the beads, restitched the seams, but nothing was mellowing the crabass.

A little rectangular pincushion was an option, but I thought aggravated frustration would make a fun finish.

Knob hanger...

Or Spot's accoutrement.

On to the next project.

A big THANK YOU for the info on the fabric shop in Canfield.  Less than an hour from home, looks like a great place.  Will be visiting soon!

Sweatshirts and pants, jackets, furnace and blankets.  The rain and downpours are relentless, the mosquitoes are unmerciful.  All make a crabass pinch harder.  But!  The Honeymooners are on the Me TV channel's lineup starting next week.  Ralph is back!

Be safe!
