Body linen

Hey.  I finally found some linen blouses that are true tunic length.  It's not easy to find blouses/shirts that have enough length (for my height) to cover those bigger areas, but I found several that I ordered and love.  Thought I would share!  Much nicer look and fit than in these photos.
From TJMax website, both Jones NY

This one is oxford cloth, not linen. $ 16.99!!!

And from Sierra, another Jones NY

So reasonable and really nice linen.  I'm tall and they cover my wide bottom nicely, can be used open as a light jacket too.  Good prices.  I don't have stores locally and even online shopping did not yield anything close, so I'm happy to have found them.  Thought if you like this style and have trouble finding, you may be interested.  Sleeves are all long, but buttoned up in the photos.

I bought a sampler chart

for the first time since ….. ???  I think the last one I purchased was Merry Wind Farm's Ellen Ford.  Maybe there was another but I can't recall.

I have wanted Ann Hicks 1820 for years and never snagged it on eBay.  Today I saw it on Pinterest and decided to try again.  I searched all the engines, usually if the subject of the search is on Ebay or Etsy it is shown in the results.  Nothing.  Nada.  Zippo.  But I visited eBay anyway to request notification if it becomes an offer.  Bingo.  There it was!!  But failed to show in my searches!  So I jumped on it and now am the proud owner of SANQ Winter 2004 Vol 37 with Ann Hicks.  This chart was not two-part was it?  I've seen finishes of Ann and did not like them because of the light linen and if I ever stitch it will try to use something darker, similar to the photo.  I have never liked stitching from a magazine, does that bother you?

Whether I stitch her or not doesn't matter right now.  I have her.  Have wanted her.  And with some of our charts, isn't that what really matters???  LOL!!  I can't explain it either!

I have a habit

of abbreviating even the smallest project.  I changed the green and the flesh tone, decided to not do the border.
He's a tiny little guy on 35 count over two, one thread.  Guess how many times I stitched the boots.  How about the bag.  Tree?  Even with much repeated stitching he is very quick.   At only 2-1/2" x 2-1/4" he will make a fine ornament for smaller trees.  I had a terrible time trying to focus so if he was a large sampler, it would have been all over but the shouting.  Lots of shouting.

We went for flowers today at five different Amish greenhouses, ended up with white instead of pink this year.  Most all baskets were combinations and I prefer solid color but after putting them out, they are kind of blah in those spots.  Got Carole's Bubblegum petunias for her and gave her a few candles from my inventory and leftover wax.
She has a little candle crock pot with glass liners and she can use all the candle ends for melting.  I put the jars in the freezer overnight which allows the candle to slip right out.
Smack it to crack it and the wicks can be removed, container recycled.  The jars with the narrow top need to have the wax broken before removal.  I haven't seen those little crocks in a while, most have a dish for melting.

Hope your weekend is going swell.

Thanks for visiting.

Pears to poke

Hey.  Thanks for the permission to use the stall.  I was scolded several years ago by a department store employee and also read in a local newspaper how rude it is to take advantage of aids for others.  I asked the employee if she noticed the SUV loaded with young girls that used the parking space so they wouldn't have to walk in the rain.  No answer.  I should have told her that she could come into the stall with me and lift me off next time.  I totally agree that if it is not being used, why waste a good set of bars?

Look what I found in a set of boxes collecting dust.  Pears are on sale at the market, why waste a good amount of cloves?  It takes at least one bottle of cloves per pear because I only use those with buds and half the jars are usually just stems.  A warm day today and outside is a perfect place to make the juicy mess.  I have bags of grapefruits and oranges that I can no longer eat because citrus burns my dry tongue, so more drying will happen either intentionally and accidentally.

Hoping to re-pot the ferns today too.

If you've noticed the header photo, you know what my special gift was.  And there would be no doubt who the needleworker and artist that created it is.  A few more pics.

Wool thread is just amazing in the texture and look of a project.  I remember the Paternayan yarn that lined the wall of my old needlepoint shop and I wonder where it all went after the doors closed.

If you want to revisit the posts of Ann's work, each link will open in a new window so you can return to choose another.

Have a great day!!

Question of the day

When you can't get up from the low commodes in public restrooms, and the round tissue holder offers nothing to grab, is it OK to use the handicap stall?

I've knocked over a tall rack of shoes while trying to fit into a pair and hopping on one foot.  I've caused a commotion in Kohls dressing room, choked by my scarf caught on my half removed jacket that restrained my arms during a hot flash.  I've exposed my big girl white panties in Macy's after a fall in a dressing room with a short door next to the Karen Scott racks.  I walked into a mannequin that JCP perched in the middle of a wide aisle.  She lost an arm.  In every case, the racket from my falls drew attention.  Well, the hundreds of flying shoes and arm did too.

Not sure I want to take the chance of a 4 roll dispenser that can't hold my weight being ripped off the stall divider sending me crashing into (or through) the stall's door with my pants down.  I think that may be what happened to the poor soul that was in this one.  So can I please use the handicap stall?

Tests are back.  The last one to come in was really bad, the others were OK.  Two were bad, one very bad, eight normal.  I guess that's better than bad news on all!!  But am I mopey?  You bet.

If you're looking for ferns, Home Depot has a sale for $10, and our Lowe's has them for $8 this week.  A little smashed, to be expected, but good sized and healthy.
