Almost done!

Hi everyone.  Hope your weekend is off to a pleasant start.  After several changes, I'm finally happy with Dorothy.  The 3046 was looking too yellow on this fabric so I replaced it with 642 and 832.  I found a backing fabric that is the same odd brown with a blue and gray in the check, and a brownish red that is similar to the 632.
So this is 30 count 18th Century Rook linen, with 926, 927, 832, 642, 3023, 3021, and 632.  I'll add a green in the bottom motifs and should be finished soon.

I'm still not caught up on blog reading but I have seen several that are linking to Bloglovin.   ???  I go to my dashboard to see new posts on the reading list and then click to be taken to that blog.  I don't know how the other works.  I signed up for email posts but prefer visiting the entire blog page and its layout.  Maybe everything shows up the other way too, but I'm not mobile.  Nor do I text.  I have a Tracfone ($7/month) that I use for emergencies or to call someone when I'm out to see if I can pick up anything for them.   I end up with a ton of carryover minutes because there is no way I can use 120 minutes in 3 months.  I'm too cheap to spend the kind of $$$ they want for a plan that I would rarely use, and I have no desire to have a phone that is smarter than I am.  So if Bloglovin is sent to those mobile devices that I do not use, no sense signing up.  I don't Tweet either.  Or have Facebook tracking every move I make.  Nothing wrong with social media, it's just not for me.  It amazes me to see a parent with a child in a restaurant, and the adult's eyes are glued to the phone instead of setting it aside and talking to their child.  We've seen several weekend dads that never spoke one word.   Is it more important than your kids?  If they would look up, they would see their child's sad face, so wanting some attention.
Never mind.  I'm in one of those moods, yearning for the old days when social meant actual contact with a human instead of plastic. The interaction that teaches you to handle situations and do a better job, accept disappointment graciously, to have manners and civility, to learn about others - not just where they are going today and what they purchased.  I need a pill again, don't I.  Yep.  Must be chocolate withdrawal.  Starting over......isn't Dorothy cute???

Ignore my rant please, I'm too lazy to delete and begin again.
Have a great weekend!  Stay safe.

Love the colors you're using for Dorothy! Very pretty! I don't get the Bloglovin' thing at all. Just use Feedly. They don't ask you to do weird things with your blog. Or do what you're doing. No need to change -- Blogger isn't going away.

I think that your colors look great for that sampler. They show up well!! I added Bloglovin, but to tell the truth I think that I've looked at it once. I figure that I don't want to live on my phone when I'm out and about and can just read blogs (when I have the time) on my home computer. I don't get the Facebook thing either to tell the truth. I have an account, but don't really post to it. Mostly just a way of me seeing pics of family members etc. I figure blogs are enough self-promotion.

I don't get it either. I haven't a clue what bloglovin is all about. I have a smart phone (just cancelled the land line because only solicitors called me on it) that is MUCH smarter than me. I go to Facebook and I'm just confused. What's a tweet?
Lovin' Dorothy!

Dorothy is great, must say that the yellow did not grab me either, but left that decision to you lol.
Am with you on all the social networking, I would never get anything done! And must admit I don't see the point either.
Yeah lets have a moan roflol!
Enjoy your weekend;))

Dorothy is gorgeous so far! I'm in the same boat as you with the bloglovin' thing. I signed up for it but haven't used it yet. I don't like that I have to click on each post on a blog instead of scrolling through. I've heard feedly is better so I might try that. As for technology, I don't have a twitter, nor do i get it's purpose unless you are a news person and need info right away! My cell phone I use to text but I'm not updating it to one of those smart phones...well not yet!

Dorothy looks great! I don't know a thing about Bloglovin and don't understand the blog posts that tell me they're moving to Bloglovin. I follow blogs from my Blog List on my own blog. Works for me.
I gave up my landline because I was tired of calls trying to sell me something or all those political calls. Yikes! I do use a Smartphone now and Instagram. I like to share photos of Emma and Owen to keep their peeps happy!
Do what works for you!

I have to admit, I love my smartphone and all the social media but I do not enjoy when lunching, or doing anything, with someone and they can't put their phone away! Rude!
I also love your Dorothy! Great changes!

I think your Dorothy is looking great.... I like the different colors, and I really like the 18th Century Rook.... it's a lovely sampler! You are such a fast stitcher.... it takes me weeks and weeks to finish a project.... don't know why but I guess I'm just slow..... :(
I'm just now thinking of signing up for facebook.... I doubt I'd post, but rather use it to see the many sites that I've heard about on there.... Still undecided if I want to get involved, however. I don't understand the new technology, hence I have no blog and don't even know how to post a picture on the computer. I really must learn to do at least that much!!! I do use dashboard and love it.... hope I don't have to change cause I'd have no idea what to do!!!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hi...Love reading your blog...Just really enjoy blogs that post what they are about! I have gotten back to cross stitch after a many years hiatus that I spent quilting and basket weaving but am now re-energized for cross stitch. I love your pattern choices and comments to go with. I have been using 'Google Reader' to organize the blogs I follow but now they are going to be canceling it and must find some other reader. I too use my plain 'un-smart' cell just for calls so need something that will just be on my computer. Any suggestions from any-one would be welcome!

Dorothy is looking wonderful. I don't understand a lot of these new things. To technical for me. Once you hit 60 like I am the little grey matter is supposed to go lol. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :) - Sandra.

This is from someone who just polished off 2 Hershey bars...(shameful).....I totally agree with you on this "social network". I was just mentioning how nice it was to actually get a handwritten letter from a friend or family member..or a phone call instead of a "text" ...oh well, Marley...I'm afraid those days are long gone...Hang in there....BTW...I love your sampler!

Dorothy is coming along nicely. I'm a tracfone gal too:)and my friends get phone calls not emails and certainly not a text. There is nothing like spending a few minutes on the phone catching up with a friend and I hope to never give that up. I like your thinking Marly, so don't change.

Dorothy looks like a real winner ... just beautiful. Glad you are pleased with Dorothy too.
Us too with the 'Tracfone'. Use if for emergencies, if necessary, when traveling. I can't keep up with all the new fan-dangled crud and I like it that way.

Peace, Barb

I so agree with you!!! I heard a program that said many children were delayed in language development because Moms spent too little time talking to children. We were at our favorite pizza place tonight. A family was loud playing one of those table games. I said to my DH how nice it was to see a family having such a good time together instead of the parents on phones! At my DIL's home, we had to call her at work to find out how the remote worked!!

I see that those of us who don't "get" Bloglovin are in good company. I don't have a smart phone and I am not going to get one. I figure if a blog moving to Bloglovin means I can no longer read it on my computer, then good riddance. I won't lose sleep over it. I'm more concerned about the demise of Google Reader, but I have a plan for that! Great job on your sampler.

Your's is the first blog I'm reading this morning & at first I thought maybe I was reading my own blog ... that I had gotten up & "sleep posted" in the middle of the night. I looked around & didn't see Dorothy anywhere, then realized I was reading someone else's views that totally matched my own. I don't get all the crying about Google Reader being gone. I go to my Dashboard, I see a list of individual blog posts, I click on each one & I read it! Then I click on the next one to read that. What's the big deal? I share Ginny's thoughts ... if someone is moving to Bloglovin & that means I can't follow them unless I sign up there too, then I will say "adios" & enjoy reading the blogs that are left. I have Tracfone with a ton of minutes too & no intention of getting rid of it for a smart model. I also agree with how sad it is to see someone (or be with someone) who can't unglue their eyes from their phone. I could go on but this is probably a long enough comment. Let's just say I agree with everything you said. Have a great day!

Dorothy is darling!
BlogLovin - if you click on the bloggers name at the bottom of the email post instead of the title, you get to see the entire blog.

Love your sampler. You are so right about social media, it is turning the younger generations into a bunch of zombies!! What is wrong with having a face to face conversation and maintaining a bit of privacy? Hmmm.....

moosecraft said...

Amen! You just wrote what I've been thinking for some time now... I think those "Social networks" are creating a society without true "social skills"... people are so blunt and rude with one another and when you try to start a conversation with them they walk away because they forgot how to use real words? Ridiculous! Yes.... i'm a bit "old fashioned" too... but, I've been old fashioned since the day I was born... lol! Beautiful progress on your stitches!

Hi Marly! Love your sampler -- looking great. I don't tweet or do facebook either...don't have the time! We do e-mail and Skype with our son who is overseas, but that's the extent. My cell phone (not a smart one) is almost never on which irritates some folks. Oh well! We were at a restaurant Friday night and sitting next to us was a father (assuming he was the father) with two kids -- both kids were on their cell phones the entire time...no conversation whatsoever. It's a shame.
