It's 8:30 pm and I just came home. She was brought into the ER and laid there for hours with no treatment. Everything she went through was for naught. Back in Afib and the erratic rhythm. No cardiologist came, none in the hospital, nurses called off work, one wimp doctor who is afraid to talk, no info, no help, no meds, no food, no water, no room available. I helped her to the restroom and they never came back in to hook her heart to the monitors again. I tried but didn't have the code to turn it on. Sixteen people have been waiting over 5 hours to be seen and fourteen patients need admitted and are waiting for a room. I was asked to leave and I hope they get her into a room where she can be watched and treated soon. I won't be sleeping again tonight, hoping the phone doesn't ring. I had a bad feeling from the very beginning and didn't want to admit that I still do.
Thanks for your prayers and good wishes.

Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way. Such an awfully upsetting scenario. My local ER is terrible as well - really makes you wonder what's wrong with this picture. :-(

Please know your sister is in my thoughts and prayers, Marly. I've been away for a week and just sat down to catch up on blogs--what a week you've had. I'm so very sorry and I do hope things improve for her very soon. Take good care of yourself, too--she needs your strength and energy... Sending a caring hug your way.
This is so maddening ... causes the blood pressure to rise!! I will keep your sister and you in my thoughts and prayers. Even though we're strangers, if I lived anywhere near I'd come sit with you.
Continuing to pray for your sister and for you.

Oh, Marly... I am thinking of you both and praying for you.
I just hate it that you and your sister are going through this awful situation. I will pray for both of you and hope that something positive happens. I cannot believe the experience you just had at the hospital. I just don't know what to say..hope you get a phone call with good news today!
How frustrating to be a nurse to see how patients and families experiences can become so awful. I am sure most of the staff there do not want to give poor service (with the exception of the sour apples!). I have cried many times as a nurse to God to make it clear to the business people who "manage" the needs of the patients and the staff. Many times I overhear nurses' worries about how can they get a drink of water or go to the bathroom they are so busy. And then I hear patient's want someone to just listen to them so that they can get some help. Does the place your sister is at have an Office of Patient and Family Experience that you can make a complaint? Squeaky cats get fed and maybe being "squeaky" would get help. I have seen it happen before in a hospital that the person who speaks up does get results, at least for the moment. Not getting fed is a big problem!!!
Marly I am so sorry. This is so frightening, sending prayers, Debbie in IL

I am so sorry for what your sister and you are going through. This is, unfortunately, the future of our healthcare system. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care.
I agree with Mary. This is what our healthcare is becoming. It will be everywhere and soon :( I'm so sorry. This is unbelievable in our great country.
Sending prayers! Been sitting in the ER with my mom for over 5 hours today too. Not much help at this hospital either.
Hi Marly
I'm so sorry this is happening to your sister - I can not believe a hospital is so understaffed and also has no one competent on staff..how sad.
Sending many prayers your way for your sister and for you.
Blessings
Karen
Marly, I'm late to the game, but I'm praying for you and your sister and your entire family. I hope that she is helped and fixed by now...
Isn't our healthcare system going to hell in a handbasket? Working in the healthcare system I've had days cut from my schedule, it seems all hospitals can do is slap-stick it together and hope for the best. It makes me sick thinking about how far we've fallen in the last few years....
My hubbie and I were in hospital for his surgery the day you posted this. I am still getting caught up on emails. First, I am appalled at your sister's treatment. It is not acceptable for the USA to have this horrible experience. She could have died with no one attending to her. If you had not been there she couldn't have gone to bathroom. I am sickened by this.
Getting caught up on blog reading after moving recently. I will continue to pray for you and your sister.
