Hey. How you doing? My sister is still being monitored, the medication did not stop the fib, and she will proceed with another shock tomorrow. I have tried to talk her out of it but she listens to her doctor. How many shocks can a 76 year old heart take?

In my garage sit the two cabinets Dominic delivered yesterday and I just had to show someone. You. The base cabinet will be great for my cookware, but the top pullout for utensils is very hard to grab. You can see that the cutout is way up there and hard to reach. We will have to take it out and cut that opening much lower so I don't keep smacking my knuckles. One bag of Dove - gone.

This fridge cabinet, the drawings that we went over and over, will need to be cut. That's right. Cut. He never took into account that after tilting to get it through the door, we won't be able to stand it because the angle of raising it will hit the ceiling. I never thought of it, Mark never saw the drawing, and Dominic (a cabinetmaker) never though of it. So to clear the ceiling when setting it upright, we need to either cut 4" off the bottom and patch it once upright or cut off the entire top cabinet section and patch it with trim. I can tell just by looking at things when they are off and I knew the two door openings were not the same. I was right. The left side is almost a half inch wider than the right door opening. It is full of sawdust and very rough requiring a lot of sanding. I can't tell you how badly I need a bonfire. We had torrential all night rain again with terrible thunder. Sopping wet out there, which would put out a fire quickly. I guess that's a good thing. Two bags of Dove - gone.
Sorry I'm whining again. But I've been disappointed so much, if I don't, I may explode. As they say, don't sweat the small stuff. Get it out, get over it. Thank you for allowing me to do that. Innocent people in our world are suffering terribly and when we get upset over trivial nuisances we need to step back, take a breath, open another bag, and exhale with gratitude.
I think it's time to get out our saws and safety glasses. I'm dressed for the challenge.

Wish your sister good health and strength! Cabinets are nice, the problem with the yet to resolve!
Oh Marly, you do not whine!!! A thought re the drawer, if that top drawer is a 'front', can he turn it upsidedown? That way you would have some clearance for your hand from the cutout below and wouldn't need as large a 'hole' cut? Unless you think it would look 'wrong'?

Your cabinets are a mystery! I really wonder why 'professionals' cannot seem to envision and anticipate the things that we 'regular folks' see so plainly in our minds!! I am always amazed and a little bit shocked!
Thank goodness for Dove!!!! It can certainly make things better for the moment!! I'm sorry you're going through a time that you need Dove and I pray it will all get better very quickly!
Marly, wishing your sister well. You are being very strong and calm...I would be beside myself with rage. Your kitchen is one long problem...but it will look beautiful when complete. Let's hope we all survive to enjoy the photos of the finished project.

Can you have a groove put at the bottom of the top drawer, centered and right behind the front, so you can reach through the cutout for the middle drawer, hook your fingers into the top drawer's groove, and open it that way?

I just cannot understand why your cabinet maker does not "get" it! But I know in the end you will have a beautiful kitchen because you are standing your ground, and you will not substitute anything for what you want! Hang in there, and keep the Doves nearby!
Oh my ! that is a lot of pain. I love the way you ended your post as I have spent so much of the summer telling myself the same sort of things. My "new" knee has given me a lot of grief. I keep saying how much worse things could be , then I turn around and have a big old pity party! Then I feel all guilty about complaining! Just a big nasty old circle!

Good grief Marly! I think it would take more than a bag of Dove for me to cope. You have had more than your share of aggravations with the cabinets.
I am so sorry about your sister. I certainly hope the next procedure fixes her problem. She must be so stressed over this and I'm sure stress does not help her problem. Good luck to all of you!

Well, I think you have every right to complain and I agree, you need to get it out and get over it. I was telling hubby about your cabinet maker. He shook his head and said "unbelievable".

Oh Marly, I am so sorry you are having to go through all of this with your cabinets. It is hard to believe that someone who calls himself a cabinet maker can produce this kind of work. Unfortunately it seems that the saying on your shirt is not true as it appears the unskilled are surviving (and calling themselves cabinet makers!!). Sorry to hear that the meds didn't work for your sisters AF and hope that the cardioversion works this time. Sending you a virtual bag of Doves!

Woke up this morning thinking of you and your sister. Like you I am a younger sister. My youngest brother was seven years older than I and my eldest is eleven. The older I get the more the roles become reversed. I worry about and help them like they did me when I was a little girl.

Go ahead and Whine - get it out and move on. Holding it in just causes more stress. That is really a healthy approach to all the frustration you have experienced with your kitchen remodel. I really think putting the frustration into words helps put things in perspective and allows us to move forward. You have been heard!
